A Japanese ginbari jippo cloisonné lidded tripod vase Meiji period, of squat bun form, on three conical brass feet, decorated with polychrome iris heads in fine silver wire on a pale blue ground, the domed lid with chrysanthemum and daisy heads sitting inside a fixed metal liner, 3½in. (9.8cm.) high, 4½in. (11.5cm.) diameter. * CONDITION: Extensive impact crazing to enamel ground on one side.  Cracks to interior of lid.

Lot 435

A pair of small silver wired Japanese cloisonné vases Meiji period, each dark blue ground decorated with three shaped reserves in fine silver wire, the pink reserve with wisteria and irises, the blue reserve with a sparrow and prunus and the yellow reserve with an eagle on rocks by breaking waves and watching three swallows in flight, 7¼in. (18.5cm.) high. (2) * CONDITION: Vase 1: Tiny flake from just beneath rim mount. Very old 1in. vertical hairline to right hand side of blue panel (almost certainly from the making). Otherwise in good condition.Vase 2: In very good condition, with no damage or restoration noted. 

Lot 436

A pair of matt finish Japanese cloisonné baluster vases the bodies with alternate, mottled yellow, green and black-ground wrythen panels, all set with floral and butterfly decoration, the lower section of the bodies with a ¾in. band of blue fish-scale beneath another band of mottled yellow/green, some small areas of "goldstone" sparkle to the green ground and to the lobed, red band beneath the neck, 4¾in. (12.2cm.) high. (2) * CONDITION: A small area of restoration to the black ground of one vase, approx. 8 x 2.5mm. Also a pinhead sized pit to a black petal on the yellow ground. The other vase has a small area of restoration, approx. 3mm. diamoeter on the black ground.

Lot 437

A black ground silver wired Japanese cloisonné vase by Hayakawa Komesiro Meiji period, with decoration in two gauge silver wire of a large eagle perching on rocks amidst breaking waves and eyeing two birds flying past, which appear on the reverse, signed Hayakawa Komejiro, 12¾in. (32.3 cm.) high. * CONDITION: Impact cracks below eagle's breast running down onto rocks, approx. 3½in. long. Approx. 2in. to the left another crack running approx. 3½in. up and across to the left.  Another smaller impact crack to base of vase. A few other light scratches.

Lot 439

A small silver wired Japanese cloisonné baluster vase Meiji period, the brick red ground decorated in fine silver wire with fourteen sparrows in flight, the neck and foot rims banded with small ochre beads, 6in. (15.2cm.) high. * CONDITION: Tiny 2mm. crack to bottom of neck, from the making. Small ding to foot rim. Some fine pitting to surface, from the making. No other damage or restoration noted.

Lot 441

An unusual gourd shaped Japanese cloisonné covered vase Meiji period, the pale yellow ground decorated in fine silver wire with two birds perched in the branches of a Japanese maple, the cloud-form border to the rim with bloodstone-style enamel with scattered flower heads, the conforming cover with ball finial, a narrow barber's pole border to the foot, 6½in. (16.5cm.) high. * CONDITION: A small scratch above the foot and a very small frit to the surface of the enamel approx. 1in. below the tip of the upper branch. No other damage or restoration noted. Finial on cover replaced and the fixing is loose with some tiny chips from around the edges of the hole.

Lot 442

A pair of slender ovoid Japanese cloisonné vases Meiji period, the mid-blue ground with extremely fine silver wire decoration of three baskets of flowers, aslant around the body, two baskets with gold sparkle to the band of brown circles, 8 5/8in. (22cm.) high. (2) * CONDITION: Vase 1: A few small vertical scratches above brown bud below top basket, approx. 1 cm. long, and a small impact bruise to waist of neck. Vase 2: Two very short, light scratches to the blue ground, 1 mm. long, above white iris and the other 2 mm. long to the left of top basket. Tiny stress cracks and flake at base of neck. Minute bruise below shoulder.Both have minor pits to the surface from the making.

Lot 443

A slender Japanese cloisonné bottle vase Meiji period, the long necked vase decorated with silver wire depicting a sparrow on bamboo with flowers at the base and two further flowering stems on the reverse, raised on a domed and geometrically decorated foot with C scroll edging matching that of the neck rim, 8½in. (21.5cm.) high. * CONDITION: Tiny impact mark and tiny cracks to narrowest part of neck, and another tiny stress crack to opposing side at same point. Tiny bruise approx. 2in. below rim. No other damage or restoration noted.

Lot 445

A small dark blue ground Japanese cloisonné vase Meiji period, with decoration in silver wire of a bird in flight by prunus with various flowers at the base, 4 ¾in. (12.2cm.) high. * CONDITION: Restored bruise to shoulder. Tiny flake to enamel just to left of yellow flower. No other damage or restoration noted.

Lot 446

A small celadon green ground Japanese cloisonné vase by Hayashi Kodeji Meiji period, of tapered square section, with silver wire decoration of three large cranes, two to the front and one on the reverse, the waisted neck and flared foot rim with yellow and mauve lancets separated by blue flowers, signed to base, 4¾in. (12.2cm.) high. * CONDITION: Some good quality restoration around the shoulders of vase - visibly darker overspray to one corner. No other damage or restoration noted.

Lot 448

A Japanese tsuiki-jippo 'five carp' cloisonné enamel vase Meiji period, the five, incised, fantail fish swimming amongst trailing weed on a 'fish-roe' hammered ground under translucent enamel, dark green at the neck, shading to the base through light green to pale gold, 9 5/8in. (24.5cm.) high. * CONDITION: In very good condition. No damage or restoration noted.

Lot 449

A Japanese cloisonné musen enamel vase Meiji period, of tapered globular form with short waisted neck, the pale mushroom (pink/brown) body encircled by wireless decoration of fourteen egrets with pink blush breasts, their beaks and eyes within silver cloisons, 4 3/8in. (11.2cm.) high. * CONDITION: One pin head pit to pink enamel below shoulder, from the making.  No other damage or restoration noted - in good condition.

Lot 452

A Japanese tsuiki-jippo cloisonné enamel vase Meiji period, of squat ovoid form, the ground incised with four fan-tail fish, two shaded red and two shaded purple/grey, swimming amongst weed beneath translucent surface enamel from mid green at the neck, through light gold to pale copper at the base, 7¼in. (18.3cm.) high. * CONDITION: In very good condition. No damage or restoration noted.

Lot 453

A pair of Japanese cloisonné long necked bottle vases with flared top rims and squat onion bodies, overall c-scroll wire to the black ground and round panels of polychrome floral decoration, 6in. (15cm.) high. (2) * CONDITION: Both vases have restoration at base of neck. One vase has an area of restoration approximately 2.5cm. x 1.25cm. to the body, and the other has a restored oval approximately 3.2. x 1.8 cm. and another 2.5 x 1.8 cm.  Dent to foot of one vase.

Lot 454

A slender oviform Japanese cloisonné vase Meiji period, with fine silver wire decoration of three varicoloured pigeons in a prunus tree with lilies, irises and other flowers at the base, the reverse with white irises, 12in. (31cm.) high. * CONDITION: Hairline crack to white pigeon's breast.  A V-shaped hairline below brass neck mount running approx. 2cm. from rim and a curved hairline crack below the top rim approx. 3.5cm. wide.  A light vertical scratch to the surface to left of prunus branch approx. 3.5cm. long.

Lot 455

A pair of Japanese cloisonné vases of slender baluster form Meiji period, the long-necked, midnight blue ground vases each decorated in silver wire with a swallow perching on a flowering wisteria vine, with irises at the base, 7 1/8in. (18cm.) high. (2) * CONDITION: Vase 1: A minute pit to enamel on neck and another above foot, from the making. No other damage or restoration noted.Vase 2: On the reverse, a minute chip from the surface approx.  ¾ in. up from foot rim.  Also minute nicks of enamel from the top leaves of a vine, probably from the making.

Lot 456

A small silver wired Japanese cloisonné vase Meiji period, the brick red ground with fine silver wire decoration of purple and white wisteria hanging from the foliage around the shoulder and encircled by mauve and white irises with blue leaves, the short, narrow neck with a band of grey, bordered by dark brown beads, 5in. (12.7cm.) high. * CONDITION: A few pin pricks to the red ground, from the making. No other damage or restoration noted.

Lot 457

A pair of silver wired Japanese cloisonné vases Meiji period, the dark blue ground decorated in fine silver wire with butterflies, lilies and mixed flowers, with an ochre band of key pattern to neck and foot rims, 12in. (30.5cm.) high. (2) * CONDITION: Some areas of infill lacking by cloisons to both vases, from the making.  A restored bruise on one shoulder of one vase, and a very small v-shaped crack to neck. The other vase has no damage or restoration.

A silver and gold wired Japanese cloisonné vase Meiji period, of high-shouldered and tapered form, the dark blue ground decorated in fine silver and gold wire with a blue bird perching in prunus alongside bamboo with red flowers at the base, 6in. (15.2cm.) high. * CONDITION: Some minute pits around flowers at base, from the making. Otherwise in very good condition, with no damage or restoration noted.

Lot 459

A small black ground Japanese cloisonné vase Meiji period, of tapered, four-lobed form, with brass wire C-scrolls on a black ground and roundels of floral and butterfly decoration amidst smaller circles and stylised flower heads above a quintuple band of green scales, 4¾in. (12.2cm.) high. * CONDITION: Tiny ding to foot rim. Otherwise in good condition, with no damage or restoration noted. Expected pin-pricks of unfilled enamel to surface from the making.

Lot 460

A pair of silver wired Japanese cloisonné baluster vases Meiji period, the dark blue grounds decorated in fine silver wire with mauve and white wisteria hanging from beneath the rim of the short everted neck and trailing around the body, 8 5/8in. (22cm.) high. (2) * CONDITION: One vase has two tiny dings to surface of enamel (which has caused no cracking). The other vase has a line of five tiny scuffs to the surface of the enamel. Both vases have a few tiny surface scratches. No other damage or restoration noted.

A pair of small silver wired Japanese cloisonné covered vases Meiji period, of ovoid form with high-domed, floral decorated lids with brass bud finials, on deep curved feet with triple-arched cut outs, each body with three bead-edged, shaped reserves, one goldstone ground decorated with a bird and foliage, the others with butterflies and mythical beasts, the shoulders and base of the bodies with bands of multiple flowers on dark grounds, 6 3/8in. (16.2cm.) high. (2) * CONDITION: Vase 1: In good condition.Vase 2: An impact to the edge of one foot cut-out has resulted in a small distortion and some chipping of enamel from the decoration. No other damage or restoration.

Lot 462

A small Japanese cloisonné midnight blue ground vase Meiji period, of very slender, square section, with restrained decoration in fine silver wire of a sparrow in sparsely blossoming prunus with flowers at the base and another sparrow in flight, the narrow waisted neck with foliage in shades of brown, 6in. (15.2cm.) high. * CONDITION: Very good condition overall. A little minor pitting to the surface of the enamel, from the making.

Lot 463

A fine pair of Japanese cloisonné silver wired four sided vases Meiji period, the slender ovoid bodies with two blue and two grey shaped reserves depicting chickens, pigeons, swallows, ducks and quail amongst various trees and flowers in fine silver wire, on a dark blue, profusely decorated ground with white flowers and foliage, the flared foot with seashells in waves and the neck with stylised flowers and red key pattern, 9 ¾in. (24.8cm.) high. (2) * CONDITION: Very fine pitting to some decoration, from the making.  One vase has a very fine hairline crack between two flying ducks, approx. 1.3 cm. long, possibly from the firing, and another to the top of the blue cockerel panel. The other vase has no damage. No restoration to either vase noted.

Lot 465

A pair of silver wired six sided Japanese cloisonné vases Meiji period, with fine silver wire decoration of a pigeon in prunus and peonies, irises and other flowers at the base, on a dark blue ground, the short waisted neck and flared foot with bands of dark brown beads, 7¼in. (18.5cm.) high. (2) * CONDITION: One vase has three tiny surface cracks to the enamel, probably from the making (to tip of lower left hand prunus branch). Both vases otherwise in very good condition, with no other damage or restoration noted.

Lot 467

A pair of silver wired Japanese cloisonné vases Meiji period, of slender tapered form, with fine silver wire decoration on a dark brown ground, the shoulder profusely decorated with butterflies and flowers in reserves above a band of stylised flowers and the lower two thirds with four long lappets, two with green grounds and Ho-Ho birds and two with gold sparkle grounds with dragons, the neck with flowers and the rim with red beads matching the foot rim beneath a band of blue and ochre lappets, 7¾in. (19.7cm.) high. (2) * CONDITION: One vase has a restored overpainted bruise to lower shoulder. Some pitting to the decoration, from the making. No other damage or restoration noted.

A light blue ground silver wired Japanese cloisonné vase Meiji period, of slender void form, with fine silver wire decoration of nineteen sparrows among mauve and white irises, grasses and other flowers, the reverse with varicoloured irises and yellow flowers, the flared foot with a band of lancets in purple, red and dark red, 9 5/8in. (24.5cm.) high. * CONDITION: Minor pitting and some lack of enamel in-fill, from the making. No other damage or restoration noted.

Lot 475

A Japanese midnight blue ground cloisonné vase Meiji period, of slender, slightly tapering form, with decoration in two gauge silver wire of three pigeons in maple trees with multicolour leaves and a fourth in flight on the reverse, the narrow waisted neck with a band of varicoloured chevrons matching that of the foot rim, 7 1/8in. (18cm.) high. * CONDITION: In very good condition. Tiny nick to enamel at base of neck. Expected very minor pin-pricks of unfilled enamel to surface from the making.

Lot 476

An elegant Japanese cloisonné bottle form vase Meiji period, the long necked, slender vase with a midnight blue ground, decorated with a bird in prunus, surrounded by irises and other flowers in silver wire, the reverse with a small group of blue, white and mauve flowers and leaves, the base signed Yamakazu, 9½in. (24.5cm.) high. * CONDITION: Two small pits of unfilled enamel on the reverse and some very minor pin-prick marks, from the making. Also, one small scratch to the surface. Otherwise in good condition.

A fine Japanese cloisonné silver wired, four sided vase Meiji period, the dark blue ground with restrained decoration in fine silver wire of a sparrow perching in wisteria with flowers at the base, the rims of the short, everted neck and foot with a narrow band of key pattern on a dark red ground, 7 3/8in. (18.7cm.) high, in original wooden case. * CONDITION: Some small areas of fine pitting to surface, from the making. No other damage or restoration noted.

Lot 478

A silver wired Japanese cloisonné covered vase Meiji period, of compressed globular form, the black ground of the body with three large shaped reserves of mottled red and white, mottled yellow and brown and brown with gold sparkle, decorated with flowers, butterflies and Ho- Ho bird, respectively, the shoulders with a broad brown band and blue butterflies, matching the lid with a brass bud finial and the base with a quadruple band of brown scales above the foot rim, 4 3/8in. (11.2cm.) high. * CONDITION: Some restoration to rim of lid. No other damage or restoration noted.

Lot 479

A pair of Japanese cloisonné hexagonal baluster vases Meiji period, with fine silver wire decoration of flowering prunus, the base of the tree surrounded by irises and other flowers, the slender elongated necks with a band of inverted lancets mirroring those around the base, signed to base (probably Masa or Sho for Ryozo Hattori, 7¼in. (18.5cm.) high. (2) * CONDITION: One vase has a small patch of very fine hairline cracks to one side at the centre of the neck, and a tiny impact mark above. The other vase is in very good condition. No other damage or restoration noted.

Lot 480

A matched pair of Japanese cloisonné four-lobed melon vases with knopped lids and standing on four rounded conical copper feet, one with the lower quarter of the body in mushroom enamel and the upper part with shaped reserves of pale blue with Ho-Ho birds and dragons, the second with background colours reversed and similar decoration, approx. 5in. (12.5cm.) diameter, 6in. (15cm.) high to top of lid. (2) * CONDITION: One vase has some good restoration to one cartouche, which is visible as a small area of crazing to the enamel background near the top of one cartouche approx. 1.25 cm. diameter and some visible lacquer edge spray. The other has a semi-circular crack to the enamel of the edge of the lid approx. 2.5 cm. long, and a very small bruise just below the neck.

Lot 481

A pair of midnight blue ground Japanese cloisonné vases by Ota Jinnoei Meiji period, of hexagonal, tapered baluster form with long, slightly flared necks, decorated with alternate red and light blue ground lappets with dragons and Ho-Ho birds in fine silver wire, below a broad band of gold sparkle decoration inset with alternate stylised butterflies and flowers, standing on a flared, geometrically decorated foot, the neck with similar decoration, signed to the bases, 8½in. (21.7cm.) high. (2) * CONDITION: Vase 1: Hairline crack (split into 3) to one red-ground lappet and an associated bifurcated hairline to the edge of the adjacent pale blue lappet. Another red lappet has a very fine 1cm. hairline extending from the tip of the phoenix's beak. and some fine pitting to the surface of the enamel (from the making).  Tiny bruise and flake from the bottom of one of the stylised pendants diving the lappet reserves.Vase 2: Tiny (5mm) hairline to bottom of one of the red lappet reserves.  Some minor pits to the enamel from the making to both vases.

Lot 482

A Japanese cloisonné vase and cover Meiji period, of squat, bulbous form, with domed lid and brass bud finial, the mid blue ground body with fine brass wire C-scrolls and two broad, shaped reserves set with purple irises and other purple flowers, on a black ground, each flanked by butterflies on goldstone grounds edged by white tied ribbons, 5¾in. (14.7cm.) high. * CONDITION: Imperfections to lid around the base of the bud knob.  A little pitting to the surface of the enamel, from the making.

Lot 486

A pair of black ground Japanese cloisonné vases Meiji period, of squat baluster form, with fine brass wire foliate decoration between four large reserves, two with goldstone grounds with butterflies and Ho Ho birds and two with mottled light brown grounds with flowers, the shoulders and foot rims with broad goldstone ground bands set with flowers, the waisted neck with green and white stylised leaves, 5in. (12.7cm.) high. (2) * CONDITION: Slight imperfection to neck of one vase, showing a copper pin and tilted rim mount. The other is in good condition.

Lot 488

A Japanese jiki shippo cloisonné on porcelain twin handled jar and cover by Takeuchi Chubei together with a matching cream jug, the black ground of both pieces decorated with cloisonné sparrows among bamboo and peonies, the bases marked in underglaze blue; together with a tapered cylindrical vase on a domed, stepped foot, the body with polychrome flowers and butterfly on a blue ground, the base marked in underglaze blue, Suzuki Seiichiro, 4 7/8in. high. (3) * CONDITION: Jug and Jar & Cover: The black background to both pieces is all-over crazed.  A hairline crack by one handle of the jar runs from rim to base, as does a crack on the jug and another crack extends approx.  2.5 cm. from the top rim.  The handle has been reaffixed to the body. The vase has two fine hair cracks from the top rim, the longer being approx. ½in.  (0.75cm.) long.

Lot 490

A pair of silver wire Japanese cloisonné vases by Ota Hyozo Meiji period (1868-1912), of tapered form with waisted necks below everted rims, the fine silver wire decoration of purple and white wisteria on a sky blue ground, the reverse undecorated, signed to base, 12in. (30.5cm.) high. (2) * CONDITION: Vase 1: Fine hairline cracks emanating from a knock approx. 7 in. (17.75 cm.) up from the base. These extend mainly in a web pattern 5 in. (12.75 cm.) vertically and 2 ½ in. to 3 in. (6.3 to 7.7 cm.) horizontally, with one or two lines extending further, around the right hand wisteria flower.  Vase 2: A few pin-prick pits to the surface, from the making. No other damage or restoration noted.

Lot 491

A small Japanese cloisonné covered baluster vase Meiji period, the body with circular reserves of floral and butterfly decoration in fine silver wire on a brown over goldstone ground, the flared foot with bands of blue and red scales and the domed lid with butterflies and flowers, 4½in. (11.5cm.) high. * CONDITION: Some overall pitting from the making, and 2 small lines of enamel missing from lid, approx. 1.0 cm. & 0.75 cm. long. No other damage or restoration noted.

Lot 492

A pair of black ground Japanese cloisonné vases Meiji period, of tapered high shouldered form, each with fine silver wire decoration of five cranes in flight, the foot rims stamped, 'Japan Cloisonné' and with a diamond trade mark, 7¼in. (18.5cm.) high. (2) * CONDITION: Vase 1: In good condition, with a few small surface scratches.Vase 2: A scratch by right hand crane overpainted and an impact mark to shoulder overpainted.

Lot 495

A Japanese cloisonné square section 'dragon' vase Meiji period, of slender, tapered form, the pale blue and goldstone speckled ground encircled by a grey and white scaled dragon, the waisted neck with a band of pendant yellow chevrons and the foot with light and dark grey scallop shells on a turquoise ground, 9¾in. (24.8cm.) high. * CONDITION: Some deep pitting to surface in places, from the making. No other damage or restoration noted.

Lot 497

A pair of Japanese cloisonné baluster vases Meiji period, the black ground with C-scroll decoration in brass wire and multicolour circular reserves with various motifs, interspersed with flower heads and leaves, the waisted neck and flared foot with scale decoration on a mottled green ground, 7¼in. (18.5cm.) high. (2) * CONDITION: General pitting of unfilled enamel, from the making.  A flattened bruise to body of one vase and clear-filled dent below shoulder - oval approx. 3cm. x 2cm.  The other vase in good condition.

A pair of silver wired Japanese cloisonné vases Meiji period, of high shouldered form, the black grounds with silver wire decoration of a bird on a wisteria vine with mixed flowers at the base, the foot rim with shallow key pattern on a dark brown ground, 8½in. (21.5cm) high. (2) * CONDITION: Two or three minute nicks to the background enamel on one vase approx. 3.5 cm. to the left of the decoration.  Both have a little fine pitting to the surface from the making. No other damage or restoration noted.

A yellow ground Japanese cloisonné baluster vase Meiji period, of slender form, decorated in silver wire with a Ho-Ho bird with brightly coloured plumage, standing on a blue-branched and leafed tree with pale pink blossoms, 9½in. (24.2cm.) high. * CONDITION: A bruise to the shoulder to the left of the decoration - an oval approx. 3cm. wide and 2cm. high.  A little expected pitting to the surface of the enamel, from the making.

Lot 502

A Japanese cloisonné vase Meiji period, of high shouldered, oval section baluster form, the black ground body encircled by a deep band of alternate mottled grey/brown and ochre lappets set in fine silver wire with small flowers and leaves, divided at their centre by a narrow band of geometric design, the shoulders, short neck and foot rim with further decoration in red, cream and browns, 9¾in. (24.8cm.) high. * CONDITION: Small chip to top of black ground below rim. Fine pitting to decoration and some pin-head size to the grounds, all from the making. Otherwise in good condition, with no damage or restoration noted.

Lot 503

A silver wired Japanese cloisonné eight lobed twin handled covered vase Meiji period, the squat three footed body with shaped blue and blue/grey reserves set with fine silver wire decoration of wisteria, lilies, irises and prunus, on a dark blue ground and with a silver rimmed liner, 4¾ in. (12.2cm.) high. * CONDITION: Possible restoration to knob of lid. There is a small bruise and crazing to the top corner of a reserve on one lobe, and a tiny firing crack to the top of another lobe, from the making. No other damage or restoration noted.

Lot 504

A pair of slender, midnight blue ground Japanese cloisonné vases Meiji period, with silver wire decoration of two cranes amongst chrysanthemums and other flowers, the reverse with simple floral decoration, the narrow waisted and flared necks with red demi-lunes at the rims and the flared foot rims banded with scrolls on a pale blue ground, 6in. (15cm.) high. (2) * CONDITION: Some pitting to the decoration, from the making.  One vase has a 'painted-in' vertical hairline crack to the background on the right side of the decoration, approx. 2.25 cm. long. The other vase is in good condition, with just a pin head pit to shoulder and no damage or restoration noted. Both have some firing dust around the decoration.

A silver wired Japanese cloisonné vase by Gonda Hirosuke Meiji period, of slender, tapered ovoid form, with fine silver wire decoration of large, long-petalled chrysanthemum blossoms on a pale blue ground, the short neck and flared foot with silver mounted rims, signed to base, 8½in. (21.5cm.) high. * CONDITION: Very small filled nick from surface enamel on reverse.  Approx. 2mm. diameter. No other damage or restoration noted.

Lot 507

A silver wired Japanese cloisonné baluster vase by Yamatada Meiji period, the midnight blue ground body with silver wire decoration of a butterfly and seven lilies and buds, the reverse with three mauve and white flowers and blue and green leaves, impressed mark to base, 6 1/8in. (15.5cm.) high. * CONDITION: A small scratch on surface of neck approx. 4 mm. long and another 10mm. scratch to shoulder. A few other lighter scratches and a few small pits from the making. No other damage or restoration noted.

Lot 508

A large Japanese cloisonné baluster vase Meiji period, the brown body profusely decorated with large butterflies and mauve and white flowers, the shoulders with pendant lancet panels of blue and green ground floral decoration, the waisted neck with a band of C-scrolls on a black ground between bands of yellow and blue scales, the base with the darker blue scales, 14¼ in. (36.2cm.) high. * CONDITION: Some pitting to decoration, from the making. No other damage or restoration noted.

Lot 509

A small silver wired four sided Japanese cloisonné vase Meiji period, with panels of blue, grey/green and mauve grounds depicting garden scenes with wisteria, lilies, irises, maple trees and other flowers, the shoulder and slender waisted neck decorated with stylised flowers and lappet designs, 5in. (12.5cm.) high. * CONDITION: In very good condition, with no damage or restoration noted.

Lot 510

A pair of midnight blue ground Japanese cloisonné vases Meiji period, the slender baluster bodies decorated in fine silver wire with a grey hawk perching on a branch of flowering prunus with grasses at the base, 7¼in. (18.5cm.) high. (2) * CONDITION: Two very small areas of unfilled enamel to one vase from the making. The other vase has a minute flake to surface of enamel to shoulder. Both vases have some very fine pitting to the surface, from the making. No other damage or restoration noted.

Lot 512

A four sided Japanese cloisonné silver wired vase Meiji period, with a slender waisted neck, the dark blue ground body with two light blue and two pale blue/grey reserves set with fine silver wire decoration of prunus and various flowers, 6¼in. (15.8cm.) high. * CONDITION: Very minor pin-prick pits in a few areas, from the making. Otherwise in good condition, with no damage or restoration noted.

A Japanese basse taille enamel vase Meiji period, of slender tapered form with 'tree-bark' chasing to the body under dark red translucent enamel, decorated with a single vertical branch of flowering prunus in fine silver wire, 8½in. (21.7cm.) high. * CONDITION: In good condition, with no damage or restoration noted.

Lot 516

A pair of Japanese black ground cloisonné vases Meiji period, with fine silver wire decoration of two birds on a flowering tree branch with various flowers at the base, the short everted necks with key pattern band matching that of the feet on a grey ground, 9½in. (24.2cm.) high. (2) * CONDITION: Vase 1: In good condition, with no damage or restoration noted.Vase 2: A large flake of enamel from under the foot rim.  Two small filled pits of enamel either side of white buds on top of shoulder, approx. 2.5 mm. diameter and another similar on reverse.Both vases have some kiln dust around the decoration.

Lot 523

A pair of blue ground Japanese cloisonné vases Meiji period, of narrow four sided form, decorated with silver wired pheasants in a prunus tree with multi-coloured flowers at the base and irises on the reverse, the short everted neck and flared foot with a band of lancets, 7¼in. (28.5cm) high. (2) * CONDITION: One vase has three very small hairlines in the enamel in the mid-blue section just above the foot. It also has a pin head size burst air bubble in the enamel to one corner of the shoulder. The other vase has three small scratches to one corner of the body. Both have the expected minor pits of unfilled enamel to surface from the making

Lot 525

A Japanese cloisonné silver wired vase Meiji period, of slender tapered form, with a short neck and everted rim, decorated wire with a pigeon perching in a prunus tree with irises at the foot, all on a black ground, 7 1/8in. (18cm.) high. * CONDITION: Small bruise to the shoulder on back of vase, and a few light scratches to the background. No other damage or restoration noted.

Lot 527

A silver wired Japanese cloisonné baluster vase Meiji period, with elongated slender neck and flared rim decorated overall with yellow, blue, red and green small butterflies interspersed with chrysanthemum heads, on a black ground, the neck rim with red beads and the foot with red and ochre lancets, 5 7/8in. (14.9cm.) high. * CONDITION: Dent to edge of base and tiny flakes from enamel above. A little fine pitting to surface, from the making. No other damage or restoration noted.
