OXLEY, John - A Chart of Part of the Interior of New South Wales : large folding map hand coloured in outline, mounted on linen dissecting in to 32 sections, folds into a slipcase, size when open 1340 x 965 mm, scale 20 miles to one inch, top left corner has a dedication to the Earl of Bathurst, lower corners a large inset showing Port Jackson and Botany Bay, published by Arrowsmith, date 1825. * Published less than fifty years after Captain Cook landed at Botany Bay, this magnificent large and early map of the "discovered" parts of Australia also has printed descriptions of the Interior discoveries so far made in NSW. There are detailed descriptions of the routes taken with land marks. One route follows the River Lachlan from Mt. Jackson until it eventually peters out in the vicinity of Mt. Harris stating " Low marshy country, covered with reeds and under water."
