Fort du Quense Pittsburg rare printed plan of the Fort du Quense Pittsburg ?before it was destroyed in 1758? contained in a composite volume of the Grand Magazine of Magazines^ vol 2 for January ?June 1759. Original calf binding^ 8vo 372pp plus index. Appears complete and in generally good condition throughout. Other features include a depiction of a Dodo^ a map of the Province of Pennsylvania^ a New Chart of South America^ a Curious Map of some late discoveries in the terra Australis comprehending New Guinea and New Britain and various other charts and maps. A considerable number of articles on a wide variety of subjects. The Plan of Fort du Quense is rare. It shows what became modern Pittsburgh and also Braddock?s Fields where General Braddock was mortally wounded and ?the Redoubt? a fortification located further upstream along the Allegheny. This map might have some claim to be ?the first map of Pittsburgh?
