First edition of the Harry Beck London Underground diagrammatic, fold-out MAP printed in January 1933 with the famous inscription "A new design for an old map....". This is one of those issued after the takeover by London Transport in July 1933 when the remaining stock was overprinted on the cover with the new LPTB name & address. These are less common than those issued earlier. In excellent, unmarked condition, very lightly used and therefore not quite mint. [1]
Original 1951 London Transport POSTER MAP 'Festival of Britain'. A quad-royal sized decorative poster (artist unknown) depicting a map of inner London with the various Festival sites, special bus services, Underground and rail lines etc. A large version of the concurrent pocket map designed for bus stops, Underground stations etc. A pencilled 'Tooting Bdy' on the reverse suggests it was intended for that station but never posted. Has been stored folded with a little edge-wear and small partings at the fold corners. [1]
Original 1932 (pre-LPTB) Green Line Coaches Ltd POSTER MAP of Coach Routes dated 20-1-32. A quad-royal sized poster for display on bus shelters and at bus stations and garages etc. Also shows through fares. Has been stored folded and has a few small partings at the fold-corners but still very good overall. [1]
Original 1935 London Transport POSTER MAP OF Road & Rail services including Buses, trams, Underground and main-line railways. A quad-royal sized poster which shows the whole LPTB operating area. These would have been posted at selected bus and Underground stations, enquiry offices etc. Has been stored folded and has some short fold-partings in places and scuffed edges. A very scarce item. Fold-out, larger-sized maps rarely seen in public. In excellent condition. [2]
1921 'Inner Area MAP of the Electric Railways of London', a pocket-sized card issue designed by MacDonald Gill using his own personalised style of calligraphy for the station names and key box text. Light wear to the covers but a firm and crisp example in good condition. [1] See lot 331 for the paper, full-sized version of this map.
1877 District Railway MAP of London, 2nd edition. From the very first series of public maps of the future Underground, this second issue is over-printed 'New Route to Kew and Richmond' on the cover, the extension overlapping the map border, and shows the Inner Circle Completion in blue. A fold-out paper map in linen covers, the map appears barely used and is in excellent condition, the covers evidence some age marks. [1]
Metropolitan Electric, London United and South Metropolitan Electric Tramways c1913/14 ROUTE MAP AND GUIDE TO THE TRAMWAY SYSTEMS. No date or print-code but same style as Underground maps of this period. Some Sellotape repairs to folds but still in reasonable condition for this series which was printed on poor-quality paper. [1]
Metropolitan Railway MAP of London - the Met's own version of the Underground map, a series which ran from 1921-1932. This is the first issue from 1921 with print ref G.1608/100,000 and comes inside its official card cover, a scarce version not seen at auction before. The inside cover has a 1921 calendar and Post Office information on the reverse. A little wear and staining to the cover, some minor nicks to the map but generally very good. [1]
London & North Eastern Railway 1923 POCKET MAP showing connections from King's Cross, Liverpool St & Marylebone to all parts of London by means of the electric railways (ie the Underground). Effectively an Underground map, this was designed by C R Swift of York for the LNER and is illustrated with numerous pictures of London locations served by the Underground. In very good condition, just lightly used. [1]

LCC Tramways GUIDEBOOK "Round and About London by Tram - Volume II - South of the Thames." 3rd edition, undated but contains the May 1931 LCC Tramways Map & Timetable and has illustration of the re-opened Kingsway Subway. A 308-page illustrated guide to London attractions reached by tram including a list of routes, fares, details of all-night trams etc. Worn covers but very reasonable condition. Ex-libris stamp on cover. [1]
Metropolitan District Railway MAP from 1880 featuring the original title of the District Railway. Shows the newly completed extension to Putney Bridge & Fulham station, the unbuilt but authorised Inner Circle completion and new connecting omnibus services to Putney and Wandsworth in blue. A scarce issue not shown in the reference works. Single-sided with two short inward tears at the fold and an irregular r/h edge where inserted into a guidebook but very good overall. [1]
1912 Underground MAP: Central London Railway 'Liverpool & Broad St Stations now open' promoting the 'connecting link between East and West' and the connections with the Great Eastern Railway. Shows the extension from Wood Lane to Ealing as under construction. In lightly used condition with a little edge fraying and cover wear. An unusual issue. [1]

1923 District Railway MAP "How to reach Hampton Court by UndergrounD" aka "The District Railway Miniature Map of London and Environs - 9th edition", the 8th having been way back in 1908. These DR maps were curiously re-issued, barely updated, in the 1915-1925 period, in this case to promote travel to Hampton Court, pictures of which are on the reverse. In generally good condition, the cut-out on the left edge was done by the printer for insertion into a guidebook. [1]

Pocket-sized, paper map inside card cover with the various counties in different background colours and showing the DR connections with the Metropolitan and main-line railways, reaching to St Albans in the north and Dorking in the south. A couple of short fold-partings but overall a very good copy of this scarce issue. [1]
1925 London Underground MAP OF LONDON'S UNDERGROUND RAILWAYS, one of the Stingemore-designed series which ran from that year until 1932, this is the first edition with reference 694.11-5-25. A linen-card map and in the smaller size of the early 'Stigemores'. In used condition with some edge-wear and damp-staining where the red ink of the cover has run through to the map side. [1]
1913 London Underground MAP contained in the 1914 Union Jack Club diary. The map has a specially-designed reverse side with details of outings, fares, first & last trains etc and differs from the more commonly seen version in that the planned CLR extension to Ealing is not yet shown although those for the Bakerloo and Hampstead tubes are. The map is in superb condition and the diary itself is very good. [1]
c1898 Routledges' "SIXPENNY LONDON GUIDE" including The "District Railway" MINIATURE MAP OF LONDON,a Victorian issue of the Underground map which shows the DR extension from Fulham to Wimbledon as an additional panel at the top left-hand side. The 'Miniature Map of London' series of Underground maps ran from c1881-c1898. The guidebook is in very good condition (covers are protected by clear plastic) and the map is excellent. [1]
1930s CIGARETTE CASE with engraved London Underground map including pre-WW2 bullseye logo. Undated but map shows Underground service on the West London line which ceased during WW2. Manufactured by Tallent of gold-coloured metal with two spring-loaded cigarette compartments and complete with original cloth case. Lightly used. [1]
1911 UNDERGROUND MAP OF LONDON. Early example of the unified system map, printed by Johnson Riddle & Co Ltd with the lines in full colour and the UndergrounD logo. Shows 3 separate stations at Hammersmith and includes the LBSCR lines from Victoria & London Bridge to the Crystal Palace. In good condition apart from a little scuffing and printer's trimming at the left-hand edge. Has been re-folded. [1]
1913 London Underground MAP 'Plan du Londres - ce qu'il faut voir, comment il faut voir' (what to see, how to see it) specially produced for the visit in June that year of the French President. The cover and reverse (travel information etc) are entirely in French whereas the map is the standard, normal issue of that year with the planned extensions etc. In used condition with small partings at the fold-corners but very reasonable overall.
