A LARGE COLLECTION OF EPHEMERA, mainly eighteenth to early twentieth century, relating to the Falcon family. To include an Officers` commission to the "Oxford University Rifle Volunteers" dated 1862 and 1863, a Royal Navy record of service to "Commander H. W. Falcon Steward". The remaining documents mainly legal or estate interest, along with an estate map for "The Irton Hall Estate, Cumberland".
Greenwood & Co A LATE GEORGIAN HAND-COLOURED ENGRAVED MAP OF CUMBERLAND, published Feby 24th 1830 from the 1821/2 surveys, engraved by J. Dower, vignette of Carlisle Cathedral, in modern moulded frame under glass. 61cm x 68.5cm Some fading and discolouration, central crease, paper appears to have been damp at sometime.

A 19th century printed silk map of Great Britain entitled The Railways In Great Britain Also The Line Of Navigation From The Principal Sea Ports To Both Home And Foreign Stations, the edges laid to board, approx ng Of France , together with an 18th century printed silk kercheif entitled An Abftact Of The Treaty Of Peace Between The Queen Of Great Britain, circa 1713, approx 63x64cm, a print on paper and laid to fabric, A View Of Gibraltar on the ever Memorable 13th of Sept.r 1782 And of Sr. Roger Curtis`s perilious exertion in Saving our Enemies after their Defeat and the Defruction of their Battering Ships. approx 69x69cm and a further silk kerchief depicting children. AFTER ROBERT MORDEN "Cornwall", a hand-coloured engraved map, 36 cm x 42 cm CONDITION REPORTS General wear and some slight foxing and dirt. Small section of margin/border missing top right which has been patched in. Approx 2" tear from top border downwards. Creases/tear to bottom right corner. Frame with wear and some losses.
AFTER JOHAN BAPTIST HOMANN "Magna Britannia, Anglia Scotiae & Hiberniae", a hand-coloured engraved map with figural cartouche, 48 cm x 56 cm CONDITION REPORTS Map is slightly lifting/creased down the right-hand side running through "East Anglia" and down towards the bottom, generally slightly discoloured throughout, may well have had some cleaning and restoration in the past as appears to have the effect of almost "brush strokes" across the paper, with slight browning possibly indicating previous/old cleaning, has slightly moved in its mount towards the right and therefore all down the left-hand side there is some slight yellowing/browning running where it was originally under the mount, where it has come away from the mount half way down there is an approx. 1 cm x 0.5 cm nibble to the edge and similarly at the bottom left corner, there is some yellowing all along the bottom edge, where it was originally in a book down the centre fold it has split from the bottom all the way up to approx. just above "Winchcombe", there is also another split/deep fold running from just above "Winchcombe" across to the left-hand side going through "Shropshire" and then tapering off further left above "Stafford" going all the way through the top of "Wales" and running through above "Anglesey" all the way over to "ireland", then straight centrally across "Ireland" right through to the ocean running out on the left-hand side, there are some spots of browning/staining in various areas, and there is quite a deep rubbing mark in the sea area out by "New Aberdeen" running all along the word "Oceanus". In reasonably modern frame with some knocks and bumps from general wear.
AFTER HOMANNIANOS HEREDES "Peru, Brasiliae, Terrae Firmae", a hand-coloured engraved map with figural cartouche, 47 cm x 55 cm CONDITION REPORTS Yellowed and stained. Wear, scuffs and dirt. Much of the surface and decoration has worn away/missing and has been coloured-in. Numerous creases. Tear and repairs, inluding large tear to cartouche. Frame with wear and some losses.
AFTER RICHARD BLOME "A Mapp of County of Mounmouthshire, with Hundreds", a hand-coloured engraved map with armorial laurel cartouche, 34 cm x 28 cm CONDITION REPORTS Very browned and foxed throughout (please see photos), some light creasing to paper throughout and slight lifting, however the main colours appear quite strong, is in a slightly dated frame with some knocks and bumps throughout.
AFTER JOHANNES BLAEU "Ducatus Eborancensis pars Occidentalis, the West Riding of Yorkeshire", hand-coloured engraved map, double sided, with decorative cartouche, armorial crests and mileage scale, 43 cm x 54 cm CONDITION REPORTS Map shows brown spotting throughout, is quite yellowed/browned generally, there is a 4 cm crease in the border of the left bottom corner, there is some slight general lifting/creasing to the paper under the glass, there is another crease above the title on the left corner running from the bottom up towards the title "Yorkshire" approx. 5 cm. In a reasonably modern frame with some knocks and bumps from general wear throughout, top right corner is coming apart where the two pieces join together and needs re-securing.
