Ten various volumes mainly on the subject of hunting, to include FA STEWART "Cross Country with Hounds", NIMRODS "Condition of Hunters", WILL H OGILVIE "Over the Grass", etc CONDITION REPORTS PLEASE NOTE THAT THE HEYTHROP MAP IS NO LONGER IN THIS LOT. All in used and worn condition. Over the Grass has general wear, some yellowing and scuffs, some roughness to edges of pages and generally in reasonable order. Horse Sense is very worn and faded and stained, foxing, yellowing. A Handful of Leather (with pale cover) is in very poor condition - very faded, stained, falling apart, creased, foxing, losses. A Handful of Leather (with red cover) has general wear and some fading, foxing and yellowing to pages, overall in reasonable condition. Cross Country with Hounds has wear, stains, foxing, yellowing. Heythrop map has wear and dirt and some stains. The Sport of our Ancestors has some fading, wear, scuffs, some yellowing and slight foxing, generally in reasonable order. Nimrod's has wear, fading, stains, including lots of stains to edges of pages, rough edges to pages, foxing. Songs and Verses is in extremely poor condition, falling apart, losses, damage, foxing, stains. Mr Sponges has cover with very faded spine, various scuffs, stains and scratches, pages with some yellowing, some stains and foxing to end papers, but overall appears in reasonable condition. Scattered Scarlet has covers very faded and stained, some pages fallen out and others have come loose, some creasing, yellowing, foxing. All with various inscriptions. PLEASE NOTE THAT THE HEYTHROP MAP IS NO LONGER IN THIS LOT.

A collection of 16 various, mainly brass, hunt buttons, together with a hunting map (Midlands 1936), and DRAGON "The Hereford Shire Hunt, A poem", published A.H. Bailey & Co Royal Exchange Buildings 1880 CONDITION REPORTS Hunt buttons with wear and scuffs, some scratching and rubbing to finish. Hertfordshire Hunt poem has fading and wear, some slight yellowing to pages, a little foxing, but generally appears in reasonably good order. The Hunting Map (Midlands) is in very worn condition with quite a lot of staining, yellowing, creasing, fraying.

Vol I - xxiii 608 pp. Frontispiece engraved portrait of Edwardes & 4 plates (lacks map). Contents include: Vol II - xiv 734 pp. Colour frontispiece & 2 other colour plates & 2 folding. Major-General Sir Herbert Benjamin Edwardes (1819–1868) was an English administrator soldier and statesman active in the Punjab India. Edwardes served as ADC to Gough during the First Anglo-Sikh War and fought at Mudki on 18 December 1845 where he was wounded and at the final bloody rout of the Sikhs at Sobraon on 10 February 1846. Following the Sikh defeat in the First Anglo-Sikh War (1846–47) the Punjab came to be ruled by a British Resident seated at the historic capital of Lahore supported by a Council of Regency acting for the infant Maharaja Duleep Singh. In 1846 aged 27 Edwardes was appointed by the new British Resident Sir Henry Lawrence as Assistant Resident. He is best known as the “Hero of Multan” for securing the British victory in the Second Anglo-Sikh War. On 22 January 1849 Diwan Mulraj surrendered following negotiations directed by Edwardes. Sir Henry Lawrence praised Edwardes`s pivotal role in the war stating that “Since the days of Clive no man had done as Edwardes”
