1967 AEC Routemaster Bus Transmission: manualMileage:The AEC Routemaster was designed by London Transport and built by the Associated Equipment Company. The prototype was completed in 1954 and the model was in production until the last one was delivered in 1968. A pioneering design, the Routemaster outlasted several of its intended replacement models going on to become one of London's most famous symbols. In 2006 the Routemaster was voted one of Britain's top 10 design icons in a list that included Concorde, The Spitfire and the London tube map. One heritage route is still operated by Routemasters in central London. Most Routemasters were built for London Transport, although small numbers were built for British European Airways and the Northern General Transport Company. A total of 2,876 Routemasters were built, of which 1,280 are thought to be still in existence.Originally registered on 14th September 1967, SMK 666F was in service with London Transport for several years and must have seen some sights during its working life. This particular Routemaster was purchased in January 2018 and in December 2018 a full restoration project was started by a company called D Class involving a complete strip and rebuild of the entire interior of the bus to the owner's personal touch. The lower deck features a softball area with the floor and surrounding areas in soft rubber padding and a TV installed. The upper deck is designed for the adults and features a bar, a fridge, an ice maker, and lounge area for people to sit, drink, and socialise. Reported to drive well, these iconic buses will always be a part of London history and are easily maintained through a well-established and enthusiastic Owner's Club.

The Gerardi Mercatoris [1512-1594] and Jodocus Hondius [1563-1612] map of China; with verso text of 'The description of the mighty Kingdome of China' in English. China depicted between Tartariae in the North West and Japan in the Chinensis Oceanus at the South East; the mythical inland lake of Chianiai Lacus depicted in the west with five rivers flowing south into the Golfo de Bengala. 17th Century. Framed and glazed on both obverse and reverse with overall dimensions of 56 x 45 cm.The text commences with an introduction to 'The Most large & mightier kingdome of China, is the same countrie which Marke Paul nameth Mangi'The achievement of China's geographical survey here was presumably the result of scholarly study and exploration over a significant number of years. Pliny, writing during the Han Dynasty in his 'Natural History' [Book vi] discusses China, and mentions Chinese Textiles [Tam multiplici opere, tam longinquo orbe petitur ut in publico matrona traluceat']. However, no mention is made as to the maps by which the textiles came westwards.Muhammad Al Adrisi [circa 1100-1165], cartographer to Roger II of Sicilly, also mentions China, but in terms of its trading vessels, its glass from Hangzhou, and its silks from Quanzhou. By the time of Jodocus Hondius here, porcelains had arrived westwards in some quantity, an ongoing trade that presumably made maps and maritime charts of China of particular value and interest.Condition Report: Please note that it has not been possible to take this map from its frame in order to check trimming; there is some paper and colour deterioration extant that includes: areas of foxing, and a prominent and repaired central fold mark. Fugitive colour, and subsequent deterioration resulting from framing is assumed.
