Folio.Nahezu vollständiges Exemplar der dritten deutsche Ausgabe des berühmtesten Atlas des 16. Jhs., der lange Zeit als Vorbild für spätere holländische Atlanten diente. Der Hauptteil und das Parergon mit den hist. Karten wie häufig in einem Band gebunden mit einem der insgesamt fünf Zusätze (Addimenta), die bis 1597 erschienen, hier mit der deutschen Ausgabe des 3. Addimentums. - Die mehrheitlich von Frans Hogenberg gestochenen altkolor. Karten mit prachtvollen Titelkartuschen (geschmückt mit vielen Details), Darstellungen von Allegorien, Tieren, Schiffen, Meer- und Fabelwesen, Meilenzeigern, Porträtmedaillons, Gebiets- und Familienwappen. Enthält u. a. Weltkarte in Oval, Erdteilkarten von Europa, Afrika, Amerika und Asien, Gesamt- und Teilkarten von Deutschland, Italien, Frankreich und Griechenland, sowie Karten von Kuba, England, Schottland, Niederlande, Österreich, Schweiz, Skandinavien und dem Mittelmeerraum; das Addimentum ferner mit Karten von Ägypten, Preussen, Valentia, Sizilien, Azoren, Kreta, China u. a. Januar 1903 in London und führt über Italien nach Port Said, Suez, Kairo und entlang des Nils über Luxor nach Assuan nach Nubien. Nach einem längeren Aufenthalt in Khartum führt der Weg nach Maha`raka und schließlich zurück nach Assuan. Nach einem einwöchigen Aufenthalt in Kairo endet die Reise im März in England. - Die schönen Fotografien jeweils mit handschriftl. Bezeichnungen zeigen den Verfasser und seinen Reisebegleiter (`The Major`), verschied. Mitreisende, das Schiff S. S. Hamburg , versch. Hotels, Gärten, Dörfer, Sehenswürdigkeiten, Einheimische, Reiseaktivitäten (Kamelreiten) sowie zahlr. Ansichten des Nils. Die Atelier-Fotografien überwiegend mit Ansichten von Städten (Kairo, Memphis, Assuan), Landschaften und Sehenswürdigkeiten (Sphinx, Ramesseum, Abu Simbel, Assuan Staudamm, Insel Philae sowie Tempel von Karnak, Edfu, Kôm Ombo, Kalabche, Dakkéh, Abydos et.).
