WW1 61st Division 11th November 1918 Original Cease Hostilities Message Form. A rare and emotive Army Message Form dated 11th November 1918, that was later acquired by Corporal Frederick Lewis who served with the East Lancashire Regiment and later Labour Corps. The message form was sent by advanced 17 Corps to 61st Division and received at 07.18 hours and reads “HOSTILITIES WILL CEASE 11.00 HOURS TODAY NOV 11TH. TROOPS WILL STAND FAST ON LINE REACHED AT THAT HOUR WHICH WILL BE REPORTED BY WIRE TO CORPS HQ. DEFENSIVE PRECAUTIONS WILL BE MAINTAINED. THERE WILL BE NO INTERCOURSE OF ANY DESCRIPTION WITH THE ENEMY.” The message is displayed in a table frame. .... Accompanied by a Victory Medal “32352 CPL F.D.E. LEWIS E. LANC R.”. ... Two photographic postcards. ... Also a brass 1914 Princess Mary tin etc. Writing clear.Sold on behalf of the Royal British Legion.Corporal Frederick D.E. Lewis was awarded the British War Medal and Victory Medal, he is noted as serving with the East Lancashire Regiment and later the Labour Corps. The 1st Bn East Lancashire Regiment joined the 61st Division on June 1918.
