A gilt wood, silk and bullion work box of 17th century design, decorated with bow tied floral garlands, with pale silk lined interior, c1942; housed in a modified Edwardian mahogany bijouterie table, box 21cm high, 45cm wide and 35cm deep, the table 88cm tall, 60cm wide and 42cm deep Provenance: Entered for auction by the relatives of Cecil Robert Thompson, chauffeur to Queen Mary. Believed to have been raffled in 1942 to raise money for the war effort.
