Ltd, London 1910, with central trumpet shaped vase with scroll and floral cast rim, on panelled base and flanked by circular tazza with scroll and floral cast rims and pierced sides, on merchild pattern supports, the shaped base cast with leaf ornament and with shell and leaf cast feet, 24ins overall x 13ins high, weight 90ozs, inscribed "Presented to Sir Tom and Lady Callender by the Belvedere Work Employees of Callender's Cable and Construction Co. Ltd. ... on the occasion Sir Tom receiving the Honour of Knighthood conferred by His Majesty King George V, June 3rd 1918" Provenance: Gifted by Balfour Beatty, a company which incorporated Callender's Cable and Construction Co. Ltd, to Bidborough Village Hall. Sir Tom Callender was known to have lived in Bidborough Court in the village of Bidborough and he had originally gifted the land for the building of the Village Hall for the benefit of all residents
