Gillows fine quality late Regency eight legged mahogany extending Dining Table with three large leaves. The pull out mechanism detaches so that two free standing compact half moon tables, remain. The leaves each measuring 153cm x 62cm appx., the round ends 76cm deep x 153 cm wide. Overall extended length 338cm (11 feet appx) x 153cm (5 feet appx). Some moulding below the skirt, and all of the 8 brass clips are missing, though the receivers are present on the underside of leaves. Gillows mark in the box underneath the runners, the table will extend further.

Early carved oak shaped Drop Leaf Hall Table on bobbin twist supports, with a single drawer, and a later added period oak raised back with 1639 dated carving. Carvings also portraying - 'David Linsay - Balcarres' & 'Astra Castra Numen Lumen'. Depicting the tables possible origins to the family or/and their grounds. (98cm Width x 99cm Tall x 40cm Depth, 92cm Depth with leaf.) David Lindsay, 1st Lord Lindsay of Balcarres (1587 - 1642) was a Scottish nobleman, invested as a knight in 1612. The Latin phrase "Astra Castra Numen Lumen" was the Lindsay's of Balcarres (1587-1869) motto, meaning, "The stars my camp, the Deity my light".
