The top section with the stylised flame finial unscrews and although patently silver it does not appear to be hallmarked. It is noted that the sphere-shaped base is in two halves and the join can be seen under a glass, both sections are hallmarked with a lion passant. The piece is noted to have a Chester hallmark of 1929.

A large extending mahogany dining table with two extra leaves in George IV Regency style; the reeded edge top above two turned pillars, each pillar with three downswept reeded tapering legs terminating in brass lion's paw style castors (318cm leaves in x 107cm wide)Condition Report: The top appears solid not veneered. The condition appears that some restoration would benefit this piece. One of the two extra central leaves appears to be quite scratched, the reeded edge of one of the leaves has a 12cm section away (not present) and there is a split along the top which has been filled and the leaves are slightly different colours. The table is large and there is some scratching and scuffing commensurate with age, mostly to the edges and around the top at the ends. The two pillar supports appear to have some 'ageing' when the table was originally made but have faded a bit from sunlight, one support has an approx. 14cm split on the top section (not recent). The lions-paw style casters have darkened down and the legs look in good condition save some scuffing etc. commensurate with usage.
