AN IRISH RED WALNUT SILVER TABLE MID 18TH CENTURY AND LATER Of small proportion 71cm high, 70cm wide, 43cm deep Condition Report: Marks, knocks, scratches, abrasions, old splits and cracksTable is sturdy and in good condition. Has been cleaned, there are some old pin holes on the right side of the frieze.As catalogued the dating of this table is mid 18th century and later, there are some variance to the joints and overall construction and it does not appear 'pure' - the elements are 18th century but there appears to have been alterations and adaptions. The table presents well but there are a mixture of joint construction including pegs and tacks, there are later blocks to the interior to secure top to frieze as well as later screws, there also appear to have been other internal blocks to the corners previously. A GEORGE III MAHOGANY WRITING TABLE LATE 18TH CENTURY With gilt tooled green leather inset top, veneered to all sides, a branded stamp 'VR' under a crown, branded '..VE 74cm high, 114cm wide, 60cm deep Provenance: Bonhams, Period Design, 4th August 2009, Lot 128 Condition Report: The green leather top is possibly the original. There are quite a number of old water marks in the leather top. The locks are stamped Hobbs & Co and is possibly original. There are loses to the cockbeading around the drawers, and on the viewing left side of the central drawer, the cockbeading is missing.
