AN INTERESTING MOUNTED DISPLAY CASE OF 12 BORE EARLY PRESSURE TESTING CARTRIDGE BASED ON DESIGN OF A DRAWING C.1890 FROM NOBEL'S EXPLOSIVES COMPANY'S ARDEER FACTORY, as the cartridge was fired the internal piston compressed a copper crusher and the reduction in its length was then related to a pressure table, what appears to be black powder is in fact coal dust and the primer is a dummy, it together with the cutaway specimen were machined by a skilled engineer from the original factory drawing, a copy of which forms part of the display, three of these display were made at the request of the former Historian to the Birmingham Gun Barrel Proof House which housed one such specimen and a photograph of a third appears in a book entitled British Cartridge Manufacturers, Loaders and Retailers by C.W. Harding
A REGENCY ROSEWOOD AND BRASS INLAID FOLD OVER CARD TABLE, the shaped rectangular top with rounded corners to the front with green baize lined interior (replacement) on a tapered rectangular pedestal with moulded detail, shaped plinth with four sabre legs fitted with brass paw caps and castors, width 90.5cm x height 75.5cm (condition: some lifting of brass inlay to the top on the left hand side, small section of veneer missing along the left hand side edge)
