Arts & Crafts Jesson, Birkett & Co, brass table lamp or wall light, designed by Thomas Birkett, the tapering stem with adjustable ball pivot supporting a conical shade with tapering final with ball terminal, upon a circular domed base pierced for wall mounting, shade positioned upright overall H57cm Often misattributed to Arthur Stansfield Dixon for Birmingham Guild of Handicraft, this particular lamp was designed by Thomas Birkett. In the late 1890's Birkett worked as a metalwork at the Birmingham Guild, before later joining the Faulkner Bronze Company which went on to become Jesson, Birkett & Co in 1904. The lamp features in lighting catalogues from the firm under the model no E490.Condition Report:General wear commensurate with age and use, including wear to patina, surface scratches, small nicks and indentations.
