A Swedish satinwood, karelian birch and marquetry dressing table, first quarter 20th century, bearing pressed metal plaque titled 'A B NORDISKA KOMPANIET 20254-6 11 18', 122cm wide, 47cm deep By repute, the design for this dressing table was executed by David Blomberg in 1904.The plaque appears to indicate the dressing table was retailed by the Nordiska Kompaniet department store in either Stockholm or Gothenburg.
Thérèse Lessore, a set of six Wedgwood bone china coffee cans and saucers, painted in pink lustre with different figures of ladies at a dressing table or dressing, printed marks, painted artist's monogram, the saucers 11cm diameter; and Thérèse Lessore, a small Wedgwood earthenware bowl, painted in blue with a girl seated under a tree, impressed marks, painted artist's monogram, 16cm diameter Thérèse Lessore was firstly married to the artist Bernard Adeney, the vendor's great uncle. The girl painted on the bowl was the vendor's mother. Lessore (1884-1945) then became Walter Sickert`s third wife in 1926, her older sister Ada Louise Powell was a Wedgwood pottery designer.See Batkin, Maureen Wedgwood Ceramics: 1846-1959, Richard Dennis Publications, pp. 150-151 for other examples illustrated.
