A Victorian rosewood veneered games table, backgammon, chess and cribbage, with turned column and four downswept legs terminating in brass capped castors. Width 91.5 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The sliding top is flat and not warped but it does have polish damage to the centre caused by water. One corner of the top has stress fractures to the veneers but no losses. The games surface underneath is in generally good order. There is a trace of an old ring mark to the centre and three slightly lifting parquetry squares. The backgammon board is in good order although a little dirty and with three old watermarks. The hinged compartments to left and right both have very minor warps which in our opinion are not problematic. There is a small piece of moulding missing from the extreme right of the front of the frieze and another small section of veneer is missing to the left. Exactly the same comments apply to the opposite side. The centre column is in good order as are the legs which are structurally sound. The castors are original and sound and secure. There are two old stress fractures to one leg but no open gap. There is a metal bracing hoop underneath all legs. The piece is structurally sound with no loose joints.
A Victorian walnut Gypsy table, with velvet covered top and raised on bobbin turned supports. Diameter 55 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The velvet top is a little faded and showing signs of wear particularly at the edges. There are however no holes and no losses. The holly & ivy fringe is also showing signs of wear and is a little perished in places. There are several tears and loose threads particularly along the bottom seam and other seams. The table top when viewed from underneath has an old stress fracture but is perfectly serviceable. The legs are structurally sound. One leg has evidence of woodworm as does the central boss and one of the table top supports. Whilst the woodworm is not extensive it should be treated.
A William IV rosewood breakfast table, well figured, with stylised tulip carved centre column and triform base terminating in short feet. Diameter 135 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: This is veneered onto mahogany. The top is flat with no splits or lifting veneer. It is of good colour and is not warped. The crossbanded edge is principally intact with only one small 2 cm section missing. The hinge is original. The super structure is solid. The centre column is structurally sound. The triform base is also in generally good order with some veneer loss around one corner and another very small section to one chamfered edge. There are some veneer nibbles to the bottom edge of the triform base. The turned feet and castors are in good order and original.
An Edwardian inlaid mahogany dressing table, with oval mirror set between fluted supports, the base with glazed lidded compartment and series of drawers with brass drop handles, raised on tapered legs of square section terminating in spade feet and castors and united by stretchers. Width 128 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The mirror frame is of good colour and in good condition. The mirror glass is original and also in good order. The mirror supports are in good order with no losses. The centre well has numerous liquid marks. The same is true of the top of each pedestal. There are however no series issues or damage to the top surfaces. All drawer fronts are in good order. All locks are present. The right hand side is a little faded. All legs are in good order as are the stretchers. The castors are original. The polish is generally good with the exception of the liquid marks and slight fading to the right side.
A marble topped side table, with gilt painted frieze and raised on tapered legs of square section. Width 141 cm. CONDITION REPORT: Depth 50 cm, height 79 cm, width 140 cm. This table does not have any significant age. It probably dates from the 1970's or 80's. The marble top does not have any breaks but does have numerous old surface scratches. The base is structurally very sound. We can see no evidence of any damage or losses and there has been no restoration.
An Edwardian inlaid mahogany bedroom suite, comprising wardrobe, dressing table, washstand, beside cabinet and bed ends. Wardrobe width 198 cm, dressing table and washstand width 122 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: A very good quality suite. The wardrobe cornice is in very good condition all round. There are no splits to the sides. All doors close as they should and there are no splits. All of the inlay is present. The doors are not warped, the plinth base is in good order as is the interior. All trays and drawers are present. The bedside cabinet has some scuffs to the outside edge of the front right leg. There are some scratches and minor watermarks to the top but otherwise the condition is good. The dressing table has some scuffs to the edge of the mirror frame and some old marks of little note to the top surface. There is some slight perishing of the polish probably caused by perfume at the front centre of the top. This again is a minor issue. All drawer fronts are in good condition and there are no splits to the sides or any repairs to the legs. The bed ends are both in good condition and we have the rails. The washstand is in generally good condition. There are old ring and watermarks to the rear left and right hand shelves. The back has clearly been dropped at some point and there are cracks to the marble in the back and some small losses. The marble top itself has some nibbles to the front edge but no significant issues. The drawer fronts are all in good order as are the legs.
A George III mahogany card table, with inverted breakfront opening to a baize lined interior with counterwells and fitted with a frieze drawer and raised on shell carved cabriole legs terminating in pad feet. Width 98 cm. CONDITION REPORT: This table is in extremely good condition and could be used or resold in its current state without the need for any repairs or restoration. The table has been restored in fairly recent years. There is a veneer patch to the rear left hand corner of the top. The top is of good colour and flat with no warping. The interior based lined playing surface is a little discoloured but in generally good order with no tears or losses. All counter wells are in good condition. The drawer front is in good order. The handles are later replacements but the backplates do cover the previous handle holes which are not quite from the same place as the current ones. The drawer lining is oak. The frieze is in good condition all around. The legs are all in good order with no repairs. We can see no evidence of any woodworm. The table is structurally very sound.
A reproduction mahogany console table, with marble top and raised on carved and moulded legs terminating in metal paw feet. Width 112 cm. CONDITION REPORT: Generally very good condition. Structurally sound and a good colour. The marble top is undamaged. The only minor issue is a loss to the top of the finial in the centre of the stretcher.
Two Indian carved wooden occasional tables, both octagonal, the largest with detachable top and folding base, the smaller with fixed top. Largest width 60 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The table is in generally extremely good condition. The stand has no issues. There are no losses to the carving or any missing pieces. The detachable table top is also in very good order. There is one very small old loss to the flower head frieze on the left hand side. This is very small and clearly a very old loss. There is also a minor stress fracture running through the headdress of the centre figure up through the tree branches to the scroll and foliate frieze. Again this is minor but visible on close inspection.
