Tray 26.5cm by 19cm Note: Barnard was born in London and studied at the Royal School of Art. In 1880 he joined the Doulton Lambeth Studios, working under the supervision of Mark Marshall and at the age of 22 he was the under-manager of the extensive studios. In February 1895 he left Doulton to join the Cobridge based firm of James Macintyre. A year later he joined the Wedgwood factory at Etruria where he was able to apply his expertise in hand-crafted wares, such as slip decorating, jewelling, sgraffito and pâte-sur-pâte, to its fullest extent.
