A pair of French gilt and patinated metal candlestick table lamps in Louis Philippe taste, later 19th century and adapted for electricity, the reeded columnar stems descending to triform lion paw bases, lead-weighted, approximately 37cm high including fitments and excluding pleated silk shadesCondition Report: Usual minor marks, knocks and scuffs overall consistent with age and use.recently refitted, though any electrical items should be tested by a certified electrician prior to use.One or two minor knocks to the bases as well as two or three short casting inconsistencies in the crevices of the paws.The gilding and lacquer are still fairly consistent and in the case of the gilding quite bright overall.The shades have one or two minor marks to the edges, and one of the pleats has come apart and could be quite easily repaired with a stitch. Various old splits and chips. All legs with glue and nail repairs where they meet the body of the table. Glue reside and nails visible to the corners of the frieze adjacent to where the legs join. Filler has been applied to help disguise. Late supporting blocks have been applied to the back/tops of the legs to help secure. Some of the 'ears' to the tops of the legs are later replacements. Section of replacement timber to the shaped lower section of one side. Handles are possibly original, or are period replacement using the same holes.Fading to timber. Later supporting blocks to the interior of the carcass. Evidence of old worm to interior of carpet. One of the tips of the shaped frieze of the front has been re-glued.
