A Victorian mahogany adjustable reading table, with book rest, silhouette ends and short bun feet with castors. Width 89 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: Height when fully adjusted 128 cm to the top surface. When unadjusted the top surface is 75.5 cm from the floor. The condition of the piece is generally very good. It could be used or resold in its current state without the need for any repairs of restoration. It is structurally sound. Clearly there are a number of old surface marks and scratches particularly to the veneers around the top edge. There are old stress fractures to the veneers but no serious problems. The under frame is in exceptionally good condition. All pieces are original. The bun feet are in good order. All castors are present. The colour is generally very good. The detachable shelf is present. The rise and fall mechanism operates as it should. The hinges are original and the easel support to the underside also.
An Edwardian inlaid mahogany oval bijouterie table, raised on four tapered legs united by stretchers. Width 62 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The table is in generally good order. The four mortise and tenon joins on the top lip are visible. The hinge lock plate and keeper are all original. We have no key. The retaining chain has caused some marks to the top surface of the base where the lid has been closed onto the chain. The frieze is in good condition all around as is the glass. All legs are in good condition with no repairs. The centre oval section has a small crossbanded veneer repair to either side. The table is structurally sound and the joints firm. The interior cloth lining is badly stained.
A large oak refectory table, with rectangular top, turned legs and low stretchers. Length 229 cm, width 80.5 cm. CONDITION REPORT: This table is a fairly modern reproduction and maybe no more than 20-30 years old. The condition is extremely good. The top is in very good order generally with only very minor scratches and blemishes. The legs and frame are in extremely good condition and the piece is structurally very sound indeed. A George III mahogany dressing table mirror, with breakfront base fitted with a drawer and two dummy drawers and raised on short turned feet. Width 55 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The mirror frame has had two pieces of the cross banded edge re-attached. There are several other stress cracks to the frame but no movement. The mirror plate is in reasonable order. Both scroll supports are in generally good condition. The serpentine base has a stress fracture to the front right hand corner and down the right hand return. The feet are original and in generally good condition. The polish is a little dull.
A George III Sheraton period inlaid mahogany bijouterie table, with lyre shaped end supports and octagonal top. Width 50 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: Generally good condition. The top is flat and not warped. It closes as it should. The lock is original. We have no key. There are no restorations. One turned roundel is missing to the right hand side. Two of the legs have had clean vertical breaks. These are firm but the hairline crack is visible.
An oak side table, with pegged top, two frieze drawers, turned legs and low shelf. Width 81.5 cm. CONDITION REPORT: This side table is reproduction and probably only 50 or 60 years old. The condition is extremely good and the piece could be used in its current state without the need for any work. Width 81 cm, depth 40 cm, height 76 cm.
A Regency mahogany kneehole dressing table, with three quarter gallery, series of frieze drawers and raised on turned legs terminating in brass castors. Width 99 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The dressing table is in generally good condition. The gallery is in good order. The top is flat with no significant staining or damage. All drawer fronts are in good condition. The handles may well be later replacements but do fit the original holes. All legs are in good overall condition with only minor marks and scuffs. There are no repairs. The castors are original. The piece is structurally sound and could be used in its current condition without the need for any repair or restoration.
A pair of Chinese green vases, Yongzheng marks circa 1723-1735. Height 31 cm. CONDITION REPORT: One vase has had a chip to the underside edge of the top lip and there is a filled repair here. The same vase has two surface glaze scratches. One runs for 2 cm the other 1 cm. The foot rim of the same vase has a very small under edge chip. The vase has been drilled for a table lamp. The second vase has a similar small filled repair to the underside edge of the top lip. The vase body is in generally good order with no significant scratching. The vase has been drilled for a table lamp and there is a small scratch at the bottom edge of the drill hole.
A Victorian mahogany console table, with rear carved and shelved upstand, frieze drawer and with scroll supports with rear mirror and basket. Width 88 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: Generally extremly good order with no significant issues. There are some minor marks and scratches but no significant veneer losses or damage. The only minor issue is at the bottom of the scroll to the shelf support on both sides has been broken and re-attached. The polish here could be improved.
An Edwardian rosewood twin drop flap occasional table, with frieze drawer and low shelf. Width 46 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The table is structurally sound. There is no evidence of any woodworm. The top surface has one old ring mark and several minor scuffs and scratches. The polish is a little dull. The centre inlaid panel has some small losses to the bone on the right hand side. There is also a 1.5 cm section of boxwood stringing missing in the top left hand corner. Both flaps are flat and not warped. The drawer is in good condition with original handles. The legs are in good order. The low shelf and gallery are in good condition with only minor surface marks. The castors are original.
A George III inlaid Cuban mahogany card table. CONDITION REPORT: The table top when viewed from the sides has a slight warp. This is not visible when viewed from the front. The top is in generally good condition with only minor surface scuffs and scratches as one would expect. There are semicircular marks caused by the supporting leg and some slight fading to the polish. The moulded edge all around is in good condition as is the interior crossbanding. The playing surface is badly stained and in poor condition. The frieze is in good order. The legs are all in good condition with no damage or repairs of any significance. The table will originally have had left and right corner spandrels. These are missing. The waist moulding has a small loss of approx 4 cm to the rear of the left hand return. This has probably been detached when the rear leg is swung to support the top.
A George I walnut and pollard oak side table, with marble top, recessed frieze and raised on cabriole legs terminating in pad feet. Width 115 cm, depth 71 cm, height 78 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The marble top has numerous old scratches and marks to the surface. There is some discolouration and some ring marks. The overall effect is to make the marble appear a little cloudy. There is a loss to one reentrant corner. There are numerous nibbles all around the moulded edge. There are further small losses to the right hand moulded edge at the rear. All four feet are damaged. Three have spliced repairs. One may simply be broken and the piece reattached. The legs are generally in good order. The front left hand leg is loose at the joints. The front right hand leg is slightly loose. The rear legs are solid. The frieze is generally a good colour with no significant losses. There is some veneer loss to the crossbanded edge above the recessed frieze. The table really does require restoration but is a generally good piece of furniture.
A Georgian oak drop leaf gate leg table. Width 78 cm. CONDITION REPORT: Height 27 ins. The table top is not warped. The table is in generally good condition. It is perfectly serviceable. There is no evidence of any replacement timbers. There is minor evidence of old woodworm holes around the feet but these are not active and long gone. The metal hinges beneath each flap are probably not original. They have certainly been moved but are not problematic. There are some minor old repairs to the table but no problematic areas.
An 18th century oak gate leg table, twin drop flap, with turned supports. Width 69 cm, length open 66 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The table top is in generally good order and the centre section matches both flaps. There is no evidence of any other sets of hinges other than those currently in place. These are however likely to be Victorian replacements. All legs and stretchers appear to be original. The blocks into which the gate legs sit are probably not original. Height 68 cm.
An Oriental hardwood circular occasional table, with folding support. Diameter 58 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The table top is in good condition with no significant damage, no repairs and no restoration. The colour is generally good. The folding stand is structurally sound and operates as it should. There is one repair to the bottom section of one leg. The repair is structurally solid.
