19TH CENTURY CHINESE SCHOOL QING DYNASTY "Ancestral study", depicting several generations of a family seated wearing richly coloured silk robes, the senior members of the family seated to the rear, younger members to the front, female members to the left and male to the right, each with their own unique features and character, within a room setting, seated before an altar table, with Chinese character marks to the screen centred on the table, watercolour gouache, unsigned, approx 152 cm x 90 cm (originally from Fuzhou Province)

A large scratch to the lower right hand side. Accretions, appears dirty in areas, areas of loss to the paint. Appears to be small areas of restoration evident undfer UV light. A 19th Century blue transfer decorated pottery table centre in five graduated sections, the upper section as a candlestick over a two-handled cup resting on a stand as a cover opening to reveal a pedestal lidded dish within a bowl with shell handles, over the base enclosing a three piece writing set of quill stand, pounce pot and lidded jar on a stand, all decorated with figures with cattle and sheep in a landscape or floral sprays, bearing maker's mark "TW" in hand-written script several times throughout, 49.5 cm high overall CONDITION REPORTS The candlestick component has been broken (taped on for the photograph). There is a chip to the rim of the twin-handled bowl and a minor chip to the foot. There are some signs of wear throughout and some wear and small chips to most pieces and some wear to the glaze, light scratches and scuffs. General signs of wear and tear throughout.
A small chest of six drawers in the French taste with white marble top, raised on bracket feet 27 cm wide x 36 cm high CONDITION REPORTS Size should be 27.5 cm x 46.5 cm. This is in centimetres as is a table top chest of drawers. A small chip to the marble back left hand corner. Various light scratches scuffs and marks throughout. Brassware where the drawer is coming loose in places - some loose pins. Would benefit from a clean. Veneer lifting down one of the pilasters to the bottom. Bubbling veneer in other places. Various general signs of wear throughout
A black leather covered despatch box with associated letter "C C Hutchins Esq War Office London", in gilt by Wickwar & Co 6 Poland Strteet Manufacturers to H.M Staty Office, 37.5 cm x 14 cm, together with a watercolour sketch of sailing boat in seas, unsigned, but inscribed in green ink to base, "Done by the daughter of someone who was present when one years old, at the funeral of Napoleon. Her father Capt Bennett, was in St Helena at the time, and gave his dining room table to form part of Napoleons coffin for which there was not enough wood otherwise to be found on the island", initialled "A.T. 10.7.41" CONDITION REPORTS Numerous scratches, gouges, tears etc to the leather on all sides of the box. Accretions, fading in areas. On the inside the lock on the lid of the box is missing. Some fraying to the stitching and areas of loss of material to the inside lid of the box. Wear on the leather around the hinges. There is no key. One of the inkwells is missing. General wear and tear commensurate with age and use - see images for further details.
