A late Victorian rosewood games/sewing table, having rectangular line and shell inlay swivel top to reveal inlaid games feature including chessboard, cribbage etc over frieze drawer with fitted games pieces over central pull sewing drawer with plaque "Presented to Miss Oldbury on her marriage 1889", on slender tapered legs with shelf below. Height 69 cm, width 64 cm, depth 40 cm.
A Georgian mahogany bedside table with tray top, with tambour fronted opening flanked on either side by brass drop handles raised on tapered legs. Height 83 cm, width 37 cm, depth 36.5 cm. CONDITION REPORT: This lot has marks and stains to the top commensurate with age, in particular some ring marks to the top left-hand side. There are splits to both the left and right-hand sides but these have been waxed. The tambour front works as its should and is in generally very good order. The front right-hand leg where it joins the lower section of the frame has a split and the joint is loose. The split is approximately 10 cm in length.
An Edwardian mahogany and marquetry inlaid bedroom suite, comprising double bed, washstand, dressing table and wardrobe (4). (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The dressing table - the left-hand finial is loose but intact and there are some very minor splits to the timber on the left-hand side. There is a slight ring mark to the top but otherwise this it is in very good order and has more than likely been restored at some point in its life. Bed length +/- 210 cm, width 136 cm, headboard height 144 cm. The marble topped washstand is 165 cm high, 113 cm wide to include brass towel rail to the side 49 cm deep. The wardrobe 211 cm high, 185 cm wide, 61 cm deep, the dressing table 168 cm high, 125 cm wide, 64 cm deep.The wardrobe has signs of historic woodworm to the cornice, particularly to the sides. On the left-hand side of the wardrobe there has been a split but this has been filled and restored. The left-hand door has a split which has again been restored to the top left-hand side, the rest of the door is in good condition. The central panel again has age -related marks but nothing untoward. On the right-hand door there is some specking to the mirror to the top section and there is some flaking to the rear of the mirror from the centre down towards the bottom in a line which is approximately 60-70 cm long, there are also some other specks throughout the mirror. Internally the left-hand hanging compartment has a burn to the left-hand side and the in right-hand hanging space there are signs of historic woodworm in the central panel. The beading around the bottom section has some losses to the left-hand side and also there is some wear generally across the front of the wardrobe particularly where the doors are opened and closed. Other than this the base section is in good order with the drawers working as they should. The washstand is in good order. The marble has a slight repair to the left-hand corner but this has been well done. There is a handle to the left-hand side but the right -hand handle is missing, there are screw holes where is has been. The legs are in good order and the castors are all present. The bed footboard has been in the sun on the left-hand side as you look at it. There is also some slight discolouration to the right-hand side. To the rear of the footboard there is some beading which is missing. The headboard is in good order just showing signs of use.
A Chinese carved hardwood occasional table, with Canton plaque inset to the top (AF). Height 82 cm, width 64 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The tiled top of the table has been broken into a few places which should be clearly visible on the images. The table itself is structurally sound. There is a very slight front to back wobble but it would just need the top to be attached to the base in a slightly better manner. Some of the joints are very slightly separating but these are all still quite solid. There is a piece of timber which has been knocked out on the left-hand side but this has been done quite some time ago as it is worn smooth and matches in with the colour of the rest of the table. There are some paint flakes where somebody has been emulsioning near it but these will all come off. The carved sections to the base on the underside have some very minor losses but nothing untoward. There is a small piece of timber which is knocked out on the column just below the dragon's mouth and there is a break to the underside of one of the legs although this has been glued back into place several years ago. Other than this the table appears to be dirty.
An Edwardian shield shaped dressing table mirror. Height 57 cm, width 40 cm, depth 23.5 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The mirror is in good order. The wooden framework is faded and quite dry. There is a spacer between the mirror and arm missing to the left-hand side. However the frame is tight but would benefit from a wax.
Muller Frere Art Nouveau, amber and blue coloured table lamp with wrought iron base, signed on the glass shade. 59 cm high. (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The stand and shade are intact but there are two very visible chips to the lower edge of the glass shade just below the signature. The larger being 0.5 cm long. There are also some imperfections to the glass and small areas of surface loss to the colour. The stand itself is dirty with age and use, discoloured in places.
A quartet of oriental hardwood tables, with fretwork decoration. Largest height 74 cm, width 37.5 cm, depth 37.5 cm, smallest height 44 cm, width 18 cm, depth 18 cm. (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The largest table has a slight wobble to it. The front right-hand leg has a spilt to the timber leading from the top down the leg which is approximately 8 to 10 cm in length although this has been filled at some point. There are some scratches to the rear particularly to the centre. The top has various age-related marks. The next table is structurally sound but it has a ring mark to the top. To the underside there is a museum stamp although it has been double stamped and is hard to read. The next table is structurally sound. The carved panel to the rear of the third table has a split which is approximately 5 cm in length. This as the same museum stamp which looks like IPARMGVESZETI. The last table is structurally sound. There are splits to two of the carved panels one which goes all the way through but this is not open to far and appears to have been waxed.
An oriental nest of three hardwood tables, with bamboo effect legs. Height 72 cm, width 51 cm, depth 35 cm. (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The largest table is structurally sound but the joints are starting to separate slightly. The back right-hand corner has a split approximately 5 to 6 cm in length. There are also some ring marks to the top of the table and age-related wear. The second table again is structurally sound. There is a split in the top from the left-hand side towards the centre which is approximately 10 to 12 cm in length. The joints again are starting to separate and this is particularly noticeable on the front right-hand leg which has also been glued at some point. The smallest table is structurally sound but is starting to separate at the joints, the rear left-hand leg has been glued and there is also a section of timber knocked out on the side which is approximately 5 to 6 cm in length which has been glued back into place. There is also another split to the front left-hand corner on the front edge leading towards the centre of the front section of timber. This is approximately 15 to 20 cm in length, that joint has been glued as have the right-hand side joints.
A Victorian mahogany side/bedside table, with rounded corners and two drawers with turned handles raised on tall turned tapered legs. Height 72 cm, width 48 cm, depth 32.5 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The piece has age-related marks to the top, scratches, marks etc. The drawer handles have been replaced and there are marks at the front where the original handles have been. There is also some cockbeading missing from particularly the top right-hand drawer. There are two cracks running though the rear right-hand leg at the ringed section at the top but this seems to be quite stable and is not open.
A pair of Chinese style blue and white table lamp bases, each raised on a gilt wooden plinth and complete with shades. Overall height 64 cm. CONDITION REPORT: There are no evident or visible repairs, damage or problems with the structure of these lamps. Both have modern shades and are converted to electricity. There are occasional imperfections to the glaze. These show as indentations, brown marks or areas of pitting but overall condition is reasonable and the structures are good.
An early 20th century brass table lamp, having Vaseline glass Art Nouveau shade on reeded column and circular base. Height 49 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The glass shade has significant chips and losses to the rim. These are anywhere between 2 - 4 mm in depth and are clearly visible but do not show when the shade is attached to the lamp base. Overall the structure of the lamp is sound with no further losses or damage.
