RTitel (etwas berieben). Lausanne, Bilderdienst und Photopress A.G. - Sehr gut erhalten. With over 1000 photographic illustrations and one drawing as well as some hand-drawn title pages. Payerne (Switzerland), 1944-1945. Ca. 720 leaves. Red cont. cloth with gold-stamped title on spine (somewhat rubbed). - This extraordinary collection documents the Second World War and fascist regimes in Europe and the world, especially Italy and Spain, by means of a rich pictorial treasure accompanied by detailed handwritten captions in French. The Swiss Max Chopard, about whom nothing else is known, compiled this work, which is divided into six parts, between November 1944 and November 1945 and used various archives in Switzerland for the extremely extensive illustrations, including the British, German and Japanese foreign missions in Bern, Perrochet et Phototypie S.A. Lausanne, Bilderdienst and Photopress A.G. Zurich as well as various magazines. He was assisted by Colonel Magron for his descriptions of war aircraft (including Junkers, Potez, Messerschmidt, Morane, Boeing). There are numerous portraits of important actors of the war (Hitler, Goebbels, Himmler, Mussolini, Franco as well as numerous army members), photographs of bombed cities, from concentration camps, pictures of the Russian front, the victorious powers at the signing of the peace treaty, etc. In several typescript essays, the author deals with V1 and V2 bombs, the Blitzkrieg, wartime radio and radars, among other things. In addition, a whole chapter is devoted to Japan and another to the Soviet Union. - Includes a detailed table of contents. - Very good condition.
