This is the genuine second edition with imprint of le Gras rather than Michel Brunet.

Written by an experienced butler, the work outlines daily practical duties, as well as moral and behavioural obligations, and includes sections on tea and coffee urns, cruet stands, decanting wine and management of the cellar. The second appears to have been partly cribbed from the first.

Pagination wrong, very haphazard. Goes from 203 - 104, 105, then 206 - 287, then 188 - 199 and 201-632 (cannot be guaranteed to be complete although main body of text seems to be present, albeit wrongly numbered). Underlining etc. on page 285, in puce ink. Possibly missing part of Fourth Table of Epistles at end and further pages. No endpapers at back. Inscribed inside back board. As images.
