A DUTCH CARVED PINE AND WHITE PAINTED "KWAB" CONSOLE TABLECIRCA 1670 AND LATERWith Marmo di Candoglia marble top77cm high, 107cm wide, 62cm deep A similar table was sold as lot 9 of Christie's "Noble and Private Collections" 14 March 2018 (£8,125)Condition Report: Marks, knocks, scratches and abrasions commensurate with age and use. Old splits and chips. Marble is later associated and bear the expected scratches and some chips to edges. Two planks of plywood have been applied to the underside of the marble top. There are also various old pieces of gum to the underside. To the base throughout there are remnants of the white painted surface. The base has been sanded or dry scraped to remove most of the surface. There are various screws/peg repairs made to the joins of the legs and undertier/stretcher to help secure. These have been disguised by filler - see images. Some slight opening between joins and movement within frame but table is structurally solid overall. A GEORGE I WALNUT AND CROSSBANDED SIDE TABLECIRCA 1725Of small proportions69cm high, 69cm wide, 45cm deepCondition Report: Table with marks, knocks, scratches and abrasions commensurate with age and use. Various old chips, splits and losses. Some fading and water marks to timber. Some additional dark marks and ring marks to top. Evidence of old worm. Metalware are 18th century replacements. The handle and escutcheon back palates have an oxidised/mottled surface. No key present, but lock is open. Some lifting and warping of veneers. Later blocks and drawer runners to interior of carcass. Various later blocks and glue residue where the legs meet the body of the table. The legs are possibly original and have been crudely re-attached. The legs are of the period. AN UNUSUAL PAIR OF BRASS TABLE CANDLESTICKS FROM LLOYD'S LONDON CIRCA 1760Of socket form, stamped to each corner of the heavy gauge bases, ejector mechanismeach 20cm high, the bases 10.5cms wideThese heavily cast sticks are stamped to each corner 'Lloyds', almost certainly for the City of London coffee house which, since opening in Tower Street in 1648, has provided shipping information for its clientele of merchants, shipowners and brokers. It moved to the Royal Exchange in 1774 in its journey to becoming today's world-famous Lloyd's of London.Condition Report: Top and base with some distortion and edge wear from age and fairly heavy use. A GEORGE II MAHOGANY TRIPOD 'SUPPER' TABLEPROBABLY IRISH, CIRCA 1750The top revolving on a birdcage action, raised on a fluted gun-barrel column, the pierced pie-crust edge of the top carved with baroque shells77cm high, the top 95cm diameterCondition Report: There are marks, scratches, splits, chips, knocks and abrasions consistent with age and use. The surface of the top has marks, indentations and scratches with some chipping to an old shellac layer which is visible by sight and touch. There are four visible filled holes to the top corresponding to the screws of the bearers to the underside of the table top. The top has repaired splits along the grain of the timber, they are parallel cracks from side to side across two of the scalloped lobes. Some scratching to the underside of the top. Y A LATE GEORGE III SATINWOOD AND ROSEWOOD BANDED 'DRUM' LIBRARY TABLECIRCA 1810With tooled leather inset top and cedar drawer linings72cm high, the top 92cm diameterCondition Report: Table with marks, knocks, scratches and abrasions commensurate with age and use. Some old splits and chips. Leather is probably an old replacement and bear the expected scratches, wear and discolourations. There is some small movement to the underlying construction of the table top with faint corresponding lines to the leather. Some splits and minor lifting to veneers of the edge. Some splits to the cedar drawer linings. Some old minor repairs to stringing and veneers - see images. Lock are period replacements. Filler and small fillets of replacement timber have been used to the areas around the lock places. Key present and operated both locks. Handles are likely old replacements. but suit the table well. Some glue residue visible to the top of the stem where it meet the block. All three legs have old neatly spliced repairs to them - see images. A REGENCY EBONISED, PARCEL GILT, SIMULATED MARBLE AND PAINTED METAMORPHIC TRIPOD TABLECIRCA 1815The top rising and hinging to form a pole screenwhen a table 76cm high, the top 40 x 33cmCondition Report: This table has marks, chips, scratches, cracks and abrasions consistent with age and use. There are some repairs including to the giltwood edge sections of the top some of which have been detached and re-nailed and in some places with traces of glue. The paintwork is variously aged with some flaking, cracks, rubbing and some areas have a crackelure. The gilding to the base looks fresher than the paintwork elsewhere and may be later; there are some areas of flaking to the gilding on the base revealing the underlying simulated wood paint. There is inevitable scratching to the paintwork of the sliding pole of the rising banner. The metal bezel to the top of the tripod base is loose and can be removed; there are some cracks to the wood within the bezel. The top has some visible construction joints that have opened up a little. There is some evidence of old worm. Please see the additional photographs as a visual reference of condition.
