An Arthur Simpson of Kendal two tier occasional table. Height 56 cm, diameter 62.5 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The table is in extremely good original condition with no significant issues. The top is flat and not warped. There are no significant marks or stains. The same comments apply to the shelf. The supports, legs and stretchers are all in good order with no splits. There is no evidence of any woodworm.
A Victorian walnut dressing table, with mirrored superstructure, bow front and four drawers to each side raised on a plinth. Width 123 cm, depth 58 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The dressing table is structurally sound and in generally good order. The superstructure is all in good condition. The top has a plate glass. The veneers underneath are in generally good order with only minor blemishes. The sides of the dressing table are in good order with no splits. All drawer fronts are in good condition and run smoothly. The plinth base is in good condition all round. We can see no evidence of any woodworm.
A George III mahogany turnover top tea table, with glass protective top recessed frieze and raised on tapered legs of square section. Height 74 cm, width 93 cm, depth 46 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The table is structurally very sound. It has a plate glass top. The top is in generally good order with only minor old ring marks but no real problems. The crossbanded edge is in good condition all round as is the frieze. All legs are in good order with no significant blemishes. The flap is not warped. The interior is very clean with only minor old ring marks and insignificant blemishes.
A Victorian cast iron table base by Parnall & Sons Bristol, with oak top. Height 77 cm, top dimensions 114 cm x 88 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The table is structurally very sound. The top is manufactured from four planks and there are numerous old scratches and marks as one would expect. The top is however structurally solid with no warping and no significant losses. The cast iron frame beneath is generally a little dirty but all in good order with no losses.
A large sycamore topped table, with Parnall & Sons cast iron base. Height 78 cm, top dimensions 180 cm x 81 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The table is structurally extremely sound with no movement. The top has numerous old scratches and marks as one would expect but no significant issues. The cast iron framework beneath is very solid with no losses and no visible breaks.
A pair of walnut cabinets, each fitted with two drawers and raised on cabriole legs. Height 77 cm, width 44 cm, depth 63 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The cabinets are from a 1930's dressing table which has been adapted. They are both structurally sound. The tops have water damage and small veneer losses. There is also minor lifting to the veneers. There is a mark where the original dressing table centre section would originally have sat on the inside edge of both cabinets. The drawer fronts are slightly water damaged but in generally good order. The brass handles are extremely dirty. All legs are in good condition and each cabinet is structurally sound. There is no evidence of any woodworm.
A Victorian inlaid walnut Sutherland table, well figured with turned supports and centre stretcher. Height 70 cm, width 88 cm, depth folded 18 cm, open 108 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The table is structurally sound with no loose joints. It is in generally good order with no major issues. The leaves are not warped. The colour to the top is universal with no significant fading. The veneers are in generally good order with only very minor losses in places. The legs are in good order. The castors are all original and present. We can see no evidence of any woodworm.
A George III mahogany dressing table, with shallow upstand moulded edge and five frieze drawers with brass drop handles, with turned legs, low shelf and brass castors. Height excluding upstand 76.5 cm, width 91 cm, depth 49 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The table is structurally sound. The top is flat with no splits but does have old ring and liquid marks and surface scratches. The upstand is in good order all round as is the moulded edge. The sides are in good condition with no splits. The drawers all run smoothly. The handles if not original cover any old handle holes. The legs are all in good order and free from any repairs. The clusters are original. The shelf has liquid discolouration but no cracks. The backboard is original. We can see no evidence of any woodworm.
An 18th century Irish mahogany silver table, with applied carved shell to the shaped frieze and raised on cabriole legs terminating in hairy paw feet. Height 72 cm, width 76 cm, depth 47 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The table is structurally fairly sound. There is some movement of the leg joints where the top inside edge of the leg joins the blocks. This is to one side. The table top is flat with no splits. The table has been repolished. There have been some minor repairs to the table top lip which are disguised by the later polishing but visible on inspection. The legs appear free from any repairs or restoration other than to the bottom carvings which appear to have had some work. There are traces of woodworm to the soft wood blocks beneath the table but this woodworm appear to be long gone.
A George III mahogany snap top wine table, with unusual carved piecrust edge turned column and three foliate carved legs terminating in pad feet. Height 70 cm, top 42 cm x 42.5 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The tabletop is in good order. It is flat without splits and there are no significant scratches or marks. The moulded edge is in good condition all around. The underside of the top is in generally good condition. The tilt mechanism clasp has been moved from one side to the other this might suggest that the top has not always been with the base. If this is the case, then it is a very good match. The centre column is in good order. Two legs have had breaks beneath the knees. These legs are loose and require further repair. There is also some water damage and other staining to the legs. We can so no evidence of any woodworm.
An 18th century mahogany demi lune turnover top table, with well and with moulded edge and raised on cabriole legs terminating in pad feet. Height 73 cm, width 78 cm, depth 38 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The table is structurally sound with no loose joints. The top is flat and not warped. There are minor surface scratches to the top side. The inside of the top has a left-hand bottom corner repair. There are minor stress fractures also. The brass hinges to the upper top are probably not original. The lower ones probably are. The lock escutcheon appears to be original. There are stress fractures to the veneers on the frieze and a pegged repair just to the right-hand side of the lock escutcheon which joins the central divider in the aperture. There are iron bracing hoops to the upper rear edges of the frieze at the rear on both sides. The legs would appear to be in good order generally. The front facing pad foot has been broken and repaired. The repair is visible on close inspection. The table top does not have the original polish but is generally of good colour. There are minor blemishes to the table top edges.
A Mouseman Thompson of Kilburn nest of three oak tables, each with adzed top, recessed frieze and octagonal legs with traditional mouse trademark. Largest height 48 cm, width 61 cm, depth 37.5 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The tables are all structurally sound. The top table has very slight joint movement and some faint liquid marks to the top surface. The middle table has no surface marks. The small table has one very small part ring mark. All legs and stretchers are in good condition with no issues. The largest table also has one very small loss to the polish on the right-hand side.
An Islamic inlaid games table of typical form, the top hinging to backgammon and chess playing surfaces, the whole raised on cabriole legs with low shelf. Height 69 cm, width 62 cm, depth 32 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The table is structurally very sound. There are no loose joints. The top is in generally good condition with only minor losses to the veneers around the corners. The lowest section of the top (the stepped area) has more significant losses to the veneers as should be visible from the image. The front edge of the lowest tier also has veneer losses. The same comments apply to the sides of all tiers. The interior playing surface is in generally good order with only very minor losses to the marquetry. The interior condition is generally very good. The frieze and legs again have minor losses and loose veneers particularly around the feet area. There are substantial veneer losses to the rear bottom sections of both back legs. There is no evidence of any woodworm.
