The dressing table is described on the maker's invoice in the following terms "Marquetry dressing table in satinwood with tulipwood crossbanding and ebony lines. Ten other woods are used to make up the marquetry decoration which is designed in the neo classical fashion... Drawers are lined in oak, which have an inner lining of sandalwood. The large centre drawer... is fitted out with bubinga wood compartments...At the back of this drawer can be found six secret drawers" The lot in good condition

It appears that the top was removed and hinges replaced professionally. On leaf with old crack which has been professionally repaired and restored. Wear to stretchers and patination and wear commensurate with age.

Although it is light the grain in the timber looks good and the quality of the carving is good. There is no surface colour or patina whatsoever, the whole piece looks seriously sun bleached. The top has some burn marks, perhaps the top has also been restored/re-surfaced to help remove these.
