A Louis XV kingwood, tulipwood and palisander writing table, circa 1760, by Charles Topino, gilt metal mounted and decorated with a tessellating geometric design throughout, the cartouche shaped top sliding to reveal a pull out secretaire drawer with gilt tooled leather inset panel hinged with a mirrored panel to the reverse and revealing a tulip wood lined recess, above a further drawer to one side with a divided interior with button release mechanism, on square section tapering cabriole legs joined by an undertier, each surmounted by foliate cast pierced mounts and terminating in sabots, stamped 'C. He was most often employed as a specialist marqueteur by marchands such as Héricourt, Dautriche, Migeon, Denizot, Delorme, Tuart, Boudin and Moreau.
