Unusual 19th Century Chinese export black lacquer quadruple-top games table, of serpentine outline, the uppermost hinged top decorated in gilt with insects and blossoming boughs, enclosing a plain 'tea table' top, a chess board top within profuse foliate scrollwork, and a third top with coastal scene, over two short drawers (one enclosing Backgammon board), raised on tapering square section supports with spade feet terminating in square brass caps and castors, 90cm x 46cm x 83cm highCondition report: Uppermost top is somewhat faded. All tops are flaked and worn to corners. Mechaism is very fragile - one back leg loose due to sheer weight of tops, gateleg mechanism secured shut. Has been stored for approximately 20 years so would benefit from a full restoration.

Hasp (top part of lock) missing to front edge. Rear edge of body is split where it meets hinges (due to weight / pressure of cover). interior has three strips to support a liner (?) but one is at a different height to the other two. Possible adapted or concocted, but all appears to be of the period.
