Len Shevill Patent Combination guitar, no. 5174, with four standard tenor strings and an additional two drone strings, the table with many cracks in need of attention, hard case *Len Shevill was a banjo tutor and bluegrass player in Maida Vale, London. He often designed instruments and had them made by J.G Abbots, London. The tailpiece is the same as found on many Windsor banjos, such as the popular M1 of 1922. The most unusual aspect of this instrument is the additional two drone strings
Interesting antique guitar converted to slide action - signed George Formby 1942 to the table, case *Within the case is a pack of strings with an Isle of Man 'Blakemore & Sons, Douglas 'stamp to the outside. Interestingly, George Formby was a regular attendee at the TT motor racing on the Isle of Man, which could have been where this guitar was signed
