An Arts and Crafts oak and inlaid dining table and set of six dining chairs:, having chequer feather inlay, comprising a dining table of refectory type with a rectangular top on solid tapered standard dual trestle end supports united by a plain stretcher, the top 168cm (5ft 6in) x 67cm (2ft 2 1/4in) and a set of six dining chairs with vertical splat backs and curved cresting rails, having cane panel seats on square tapered legs, united by stretchers.
Kurt Ostervig (1912-1986) for Jason Mobler a rosewood oval drop leaf dining table:, the top with square sectioned piano hinges to each side, raised on shaped triangular leg supports, Danish Furniture Maker Control stamp to middle bearer, 130cm x 194cm extended.*Notes- Originally trained as a shipbuilder in Odense, Ostervig preferred the texture and feel of wood to steel and became a furniture designer for E Knudsen's studio before finally opening his own studio in 1947. Many of his designs during the 1950s were for hotels, cinemas and ships which led to international success.
