A LATE REGENCY MAHOGANY EXTENDING DINING TABLE, the rounded rectangular top on three turned and outswept pillars, with three additional leaves, height 70cm, width 124cm, total length 280cm *Provenance: formerly in the ownership of the late Sir Anthony Berry, former whip in Margaret Thatcher's government who was tragically killed in the Brighton Hotel Bombing in 1984. The current vendor purchased the table directly from Edward Berry, son of Sir Anthony Berry, who confirmed that it had previously been at the family home.

The Regnart family were an integral part of Maple & Co in the late 19th and early 20th century.Henry and Horace Regnart, brothers, took over as President and Vice-President respectively in 1903 following the death of Sir Blundell Maple. Clare 'Hunter' Regnart then took over as President following the death of his father, Henry, in 1926 and the table was eventually inherited by his youngest son Norman Septimus Regnart, father to the current vendor.
