The Mitford Family Table A highly important and extremely fine kingwood brass inlaid and ormolu mounted Library Table, by Henry Dasson of Paris, signed and dated 1887, the attractive segmented and crossbanded top with heavy gadrooned ormolu rim, fitted with two frieze drawers, with drop down fronts recessed brass panels and swaged handles, with further small drawers either side, each end on four brass capped tapering inlaid legs, with galleried platform stretchers joined by a double stretcher, with central ormolu acanthus roundel, on square brass toupee feet, 201cms (79") long, 104cms (41") deep and 98cms (38 1/2") high approx. (1) Provenance: Purchased originally by Algernon Bertram Mitford (1st Lord Redesdale), Batsford House, Gloucestershire, from Henri Dasson of London; then inherited by his 2nd son David Mitford (2nd Lord Redesdale); then given to his daughter The Hon. Diana Mitford who married firstly Bryan Guinness and secondly Sir Oswald Mosley; then given to her 2nd son Desmond Guinness (founder of the Irish Georgian Society, historian and author); and then given to the present owner, his son Patrick Guinness.

Each piece carved with a lizard.

A French carved walnut dining suite of Art Nouveau design:, decorated with vine leaves and bunches of grapes comprising a sideboard cabinet of bow front outline with cartouche shaped bevelled mirror back and peach variegated marble top, fitted with a central drawer and enclosed by a moulded panel door below, flanked by open shelves to either side, on shaped block feet, 125cm (4ft 1in) wide, a pedestal side/display cabinet with bow fronted centre surmounted by a panel of peach variegated marble and with drawer and cupboard below, flanked by a full length enclosed cupboard to either side with glazed upper sections and adjustable shelves with moulded panels below, 190cm (6ft 2 3/4in) wide, an oval extending dining table with centre leaf on moulded and splayed legs, united by curved stretchers, the top 119cm (3ft 11in) x 195cm (6ft 4 3/4in) extended and a set of six dining chairs with brass studded brown leather panel backs and bowed seats, on moulded legs and splayed feet.

A Regency mahogany three pillar D end dining table:, the top with a reeded edge, on triple turned column supports and quadruple hipped and splayed legs, terminating in brass cappings and castors, the top 155cm (5ft 1in) x 265.5cm (8ft 8 1/2in) and with two additional leaves extending to 396cm (13ft). *Provenance Rockbeare Manor, Exeter, Devon.

A George III mahogany sideboard table:, of arc outline with a plain top, the fluted frieze with a central panel decorated with ribbon tied pendant husks centred by a paterae roundel, on square fluted tapered legs terminating in spade feet, 10ft 4in (315cm) across, maximum, 3ft (91.5cm) high. *Provenance Rockbeare Manor, Exeter, Devon. *The pair of George III mahogany pedestal urns attributed to Thomas Chippendale and which previously flanked this table were sold in these rooms on 24th April 2013. A somewhat similar serving table designed by Robert Adam is illustrated in 18th Century English Furniture, The Norman Adams Tradition p255. The provenance being Woolverstone Hall, Suffolk, the Seat of the Berners family.
