Lot 36

A Harvey Guzzini chrome adjustable table lamp, circa 1970's with white Perspex domed shade, with applied label for Harvey Guzzini, Italy. Height 63 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The chromium plating throughout is pitted with rust spots. To the base there is a 4.5 cm x 1.5 cm section of chromium plate missing and further small spots of chromium plate missing. There is a very fine 3.5 cm surface scratch to the white shade in the upper third. The label is very faded.

Lot 51

An Art Deco white onyx and pink marble dressing table box, early 20th century, by Henry Griffith & Sons, of rectangular form with gilt metal hinge, width 9.2 cm height 4.4 cm depth 6.8 cm. NOTE - Henry Griffith & Sons was formed in the late 1840's by Henry Griffith, his sons following him into the business during the late 19th century. His boxes were retailed by Aspreys and Cartier. CONDITION REPORT: Overall this is in good condition with no obvious chips cracks or flaws. The rear edges of the box each have a small white spot which may be a knock/bruise. Close inspection with a jeweller's loop reveals them to be knocks no chips. There is a further similar knock on the bottom left hand corner of the rear of the box. The bottom right hand corner does have a very small chip and the bottom left hand rear corner has very small nibbles which can be felt with a fingernail. The front, bottom and left hand corners each have small nibbles which can be seen with the naked eye. Other than the faults mentioned this is still a rather attractive piece.

Lot 85

A French Galle style glass table lamp shade, 20th century, signed "Charder", decorated with flying geese above a reed and grass border. Diameter 28 cm. CONDITION REPORT: There are no obvious faults or flaws visible. The shade rings out when tapped. The edge is free from any chips or cracks.

CONDITION REPORT: This item is of very recent construction, straight from the manufacturer (these items and similar items in the sale are produced by a local gentleman as a hobby). The lamp is in good working order and currently illuminated in the saleroom.

Lot 10

A Danish Frem Rojle teak dining table and four chairs. Table diameter 106 cm. CONDITION REPORT: All the chairs are structurally sound. One chair has a 1 cm tear to the Rexine seat, another has a 2.5 cm tear to the Rexine seat. There are some very minor scuffs to the woodwork but nothing detrimental. The table is structurally sound however the top surface has stained and sun bleach patches throughout and a 20 cm long stretch of 3 cm scratches at the edge. There are further smaller surface scratches but nothing too severe. The table top would require a complete strip and overhaul. You can see from the web images the discolouration of the table top surface. I cannot see any breaks or repairs on any of the furniture. The drawer action works as it should and the interior folding leaf is in very good order with nice figuring to the veneer.

Lot 1293

A large Victorian walnut and scroll marquetry combined table and jardiniere stand, with oval top lifting to a painted tin interior and raised on four cabriole legs with metal mounts, low shelf and sabot feet. Length 88 cm, depth 64 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: This piece is structurally very sound. There is no evidence of any woodworm. The top is flat with no warping. There are no losses or lifting to the marquetry. The interior liner is in good condition although there is considerable loss to the paintwork. The base is in very good order. There are no losses to the marquetry and all metalwork is present. There have been some old minor veneer repairs over the years and some old minor stress fractures to the veneers but no significant problems. The shelf is not warped and again there are no lifting veneers. There is no evidence of any woodworm.

Lot 1295

An oak refectory table, with lift off top, the turned supports with centre stretcher and four leather upholstered Commonwealth style chairs.

Lot 1318

A George III mahogany architects table, typical form, with hinged top and raised on chamfered legs. Width 91.5 cm, height 86 cm, depth 61 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: This piece is in good original untouched condition. The top is flat with no warps. The mechanism that allows the paper support to pop up when the top is lifted operates. The top support is original and present but has later butterfly hinges which seem slightly smaller than the originals. The main hinges and brasswork are all original. The left hand candle support is missing. The oak interior is fitted and is all present. The brass drop handle, back plate and lock are original. We have no key. The drawer front slides as it should. Both supports are in generally good condition with only minor edge nibbles. Both front supports have a recessed castor. The right hand castor is visible. The turned columns behind the legs are in generally good condition with only minor losses right at ground level. The rear legs are in good condition and we can see no evidence of any repairs. The piece is structurally sound and generally a good colour.

Lot 1347

A late 19th century Aesthetic Movement envelope card table in the manner of Gillows of Lancaster, amboyna wood and ebonised and fitted with a frieze drawer, raised on turned legs with castors. Width 57 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The table is in generally good original condition. The top is flat and not warped. There are tiny veneer nibbles to the points of each envelope. There is also a small veneer loss to the rear left hand corner but again this is minimal. The flaps hinge as they should and have all original brasswork. The blue baize playing surface is a little stained and dirty and is laid over what was probably originally a leather finish. The tooled leather edge is present. There are small sections of boxwood stringing and crossbanding missing on one flap. The drawer front is in good condition. The ebonised edge above the drawer front has numerous small scratches and scuffs. The frieze is in good condition all around with no losses. All legs are in good order with no visible damage or repairs. The castors are original. The legs and stretchers have the usual minor scuffs and marks that one would expect. The front right hand leg is slightly of straight. In fact all legs are slightly off square. We cannot see why this is the case.

Lot 1404

A quartetto of Chinese occasional tables, with pierced galleries and raised on shaped legs. Widest 41.5 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The larger table has two large dark stained ring marks. The smallest table has a 13 cm diagonal crack to the varnish but other than that they all appear to be structurally sound and intact. There are very slight differences in colour. No obvious signs of any repairs or restorations.

Lot 1405

A Victorian rosewood and maple chess topped mahogany tripod table, with foliate carved cabriole legs terminating in scroll feet. Width 38 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The table top is warped from front to back particularly when viewed from the left hand side. Whilst there are no losses to the chessboard top around 8 of the squares are lifting particularly at the rear left hand corner. There is also a rectangular watermark on the top and it maybe the water spillage that has caused the warping and lifting. The top edge is crossbanded and there is a small half cm square section of veneer missing. The moulded edge is in good order all around. The frieze moulding is all intact but does have gaps at the joints. The turned column is in good condition. All legs are in good order with no damage, no repairs and no restoration. Both drawers operate as they should.

CONDITION REPORT: The table is in extremely good condition. The top is a good colour and there are no significant marks or scratches. The leaves are flat with no warping. The table is structurally very sound. The legs are in extremely good order and have their original castors. The colour and patination are generally very good and the piece requires no work.
