Robert Thompson - classic Mouseman, 7'0" refectory table & 8 chairs, featuring rare mouse detail. 6 chairs and 2 carvers with lattice back detail and studded tan cow hide seats. 4 chairs have the traditional mouse detail carved to one leg, 2 chairs and both carvers have the mouse positioned on the top of chair backs. These were bespoke made with this positioning at the request of the customer. Hand adzed table top with solid underside frames and column detail featuring the mouse carving. Complete with original purchase receipts for the table, dated 1951 and separate receipts for the chairs purchased later in 1963 & 1964. Also complete with 2 handwritten and signed letters from Robert Thompson (dated 1951) regarding the delivery of the items - the original table sent was the wrong design and Robert arranged for and a replacement item to be sent. All wood to the entire suite is in very good condition with the oak being a warm golden colour. One chair looks to be slightly sun faded and several of the seats could benefit from being reupholstered.
