AN IMPESSIVE PAIR OF SILVER AND IVORY JOUSTING KNIGHTS, PROBABLY GERMAN, 19TH CENTURY. Each finely modeled, cast and repoussed with detailed tool work in the form of two opposing knights in full armor on horseback with extended lances. Carved ivory features revealed behind articulating face plates, with each horse rearing on a sculpted silver ground with extending fern leaves, figural lizards, and frogs above a reticulated foliate plinth. Remnants of gilt throughout. Apparently unmarked. Lot is accompanied with later table lamp fixtures with shaped wooded plinths in which the pieces may be displayed on. Height 13.5 inches (34.3 cm), total weight 106 troy oz.

The rectangular plaque with a cloisonné enamel coastal scene of mountains, deer, and pine trees within a Ming style cloisonné enameled foliate surround fitted in a bracketed cloisonné enameled bronze conforming stand with foliates and dragons at base, the plaque verso with a finely cast and tooled gilt bronze relief scene of an immortal with attendant resting below a pine tree. The stand incised with Qing dynasty reign marks. Height 12 inches (30.5 cm).
