A pair of polished brass table lamps, with reeded columns on circular bases with beaded decoration. Overall height 52 cm. CONDITION REPORT: Both lamps have surface blemishes to the base which should polish off. The lamps are weighted and have modern fittings and wiring. Both switches work and they are currently lit up and on display. These are in generally good condition.
A pair of moulded glass and brass table lamps, each with shade and raised on square stepped bases. Height including shade 86 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: There are no issues with the glass on either lamp. They are both currently plugged in and lit up in the saleroom. The shades are in good order with no perforations and no damage. All metalwork is a little tarnished as one would expect.
A Georgian mahogany oval tray, with brass carrying handles and raised sides. 57 cm diameter. CONDITION REPORT: The tray whilst structurally sound with no repairs or restoration is warped. It is serviceable but when viewed from the side on a flat surface there is a 1 cm gap between the bottom of the tray and the table top. This is at the handle on either side. The tray will therefore rock from left to right but not front to back. The warping has also caused the right hand side of the tray beneath the handle to slightly lift from the base.
A pair of Maison Charles style table lamps, glass and metal, of pineapple form and with recent silk shades. Overall height 75 cm. CONDITION REPORT: These lamps come from a good local property and are currently lit in the saleroom. The shades are in pristine condition. The lamp bases are in good order also with no damage, no repairs and no restoration. The brasswork is in generally good condition with only minor tarnishing. If the lamps were dusted and given a light clean they would be in first class order.
A Chinese blue and white Kangxi (1662-1722) vase, of inverted baluster form decorated with scholars either looking at scrolls, paintings, playing the Qin on a table with censor and incense tools of playing Go, all above numerous boys in leisurely pursuit to include drumming, a lion parade, blind mans buff and flying kites, the neck with Buddhist symbols, with double under glazed blue circles to the underside, with later hand carved and pierced wood cover. Height excluding cover 34 cm, including cover 44 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The later wooden lid is in good order with no issues. The vase itself has no damage, repairs or restoration. We can see no evidence of any hairline cracks to the body. The top rim is in good order. The base rim has minor scuffs and nibbles to the sharp glazed edge. These are all old marks and there are no significant chips at this point.
A mahogany veneered bijouterie table, the frieze carved with medallions and bellflower and raised on tapered legs of square section terminating in spade feet. Width 47 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The table is structurally sound with no significant issues. The top is flat and not warped. There are no veneer losses. Both hinges are a little loose but fully serviceable. The interior baize is stained and tatty. The frieze is in good condition all round. The front right hand leg has a small section of return moulding missing on the right hand side. This is 5 cm in length and corresponds to the piece at the top of each leg if that makes any sense.
A Victorian mahogany bed or reading table, with two angled reading platforms and faceted column, quatreform base and raised on bun feet with recessed castors. Width 80 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The table top is flat and not warped with no splits. There are numerous old surface marks and scratched but no significant issues. The supporting ledge for the books is missing. The height adjustment works as it should. The centre faceted column is a little dry. The quatreform base has some minor veneer nibbles. The feet are original. The brass rise and fall locking mechanism has sprung loose from the column and will require re-fixing in order to operate.
A nest of three Continental style foliate marquetry occasional tables, with brass mounts and cabriole legs terminating in sabot feet. Widest 50 cm. CONDITION REPORT: All three tables are structurally sound. There are no loose joints. All metalwork is present. The table surfaces are in generally good condition with only very minor blemishes as one might expect. Table two has a tiny section of veneer missing at the front near the edge which is +/- 6 mm2. There is no evidence of any other damage, no repairs and no restoration.
An early 19th century mahogany two tier drop leaf dumb waiter, supported upon three downswept legs terminating in brass castors. Height 89.5 cm. CONDITION REPORT: It is not possible for the table flaps to be separately extended. The height is actually 91 cm. Top tier diameter 55 cm, lower tier diameter +/- 63 cm. The top tier is very slightly warped when the flaps are extended. It is not significant enough to be unsightly or problematic. The lower tier is flat with no issues. The turned columns are both in good order as are the three downswept legs which do not appear to have had any repairs. The brass capped castors are original and appear to be in good order. The colour of the dumbwaiter is also good. In our opinion the piece could be used in its current state without the need for any work.
A George III mahogany sofa table, fitted with two frieze drawers and two dummy drawers, with silhouette end supports, high stretcher and downswept legs terminating in brass castors. Width 99 cm. CONDITION REPORT: Table depth front to back 68 cm. width left to right flaps down 99 cm, length of each flap 27.5 cm. The table is generally in very good condition. It is structurally sound with no loose joints. The top is in good condition with only very minor old marks. The flaps are not warped. All legs and castors are original and present.
