§ Salvatore Meli (Italian,1929-2011), a unique glazed earthenware centre table, circa 1953, with oval glass top supported on the head of a mythical hound, enamelled in colours, signed 'Meli - Roma' 71 x 115 x 86cm (28 x 45 x 34in) Provenance: Christie's London, 16 February, 1994, lot 430 Private collection, United Kingdom Acquired from the above by the present owner, 2006 Other Notes: Salvatore Meli was born in 1929 in Ragussa, Sicily and was a significant figure in post-war Italian Design. He was influenced by Salvatore Fiume, a sculptor and painter, who strongly impacted his style of dynamic and assymetric forms. Most of Meli's works are plates or jugs, but his technique of constructing as opposed to throwing his pottery allowed him to create much larger scale items, such as this table. Meli participated in international exhibitions across Europe, Asia and North America throughout his career - most notably the Milan Triennale and the Venice Bienale.
§ Philip Sutton, RA (British, b.1928) The Bentwood Table signed, titled and dated 1978 to the reverse oil on canvas 90 x 100cm (35 x 39in) Provenance: Browse & Derby, London (label verso) Oil on canvas. The canvas tension is slightly slack but generally in plane. The paint layer and frame are in a good condition.

§ Philippa Maynard Romer (British, 1929-2010) Still life with a bowl of fruit, two eggs, a lemon, a bottle of wine and a sugar bowl on a table signed 'Philippa Romer' (lower right) oil on canvas 44 x 64cm (17 x 25in) Oil on board. There are a few scattered losses to the paint layer and abrasion around the edges caused by framing. The painting has a thin varnish layer which is slightly bloomed in areas with a dust layer on the surface. There is wear and staining to the frame.

A 20th century beech and glass mounted coffee or occasional table mounted with a full Cayman, the oval glass top upon a bronze band of pseudo crocodile skin raised on ebonised columns, the oval base with ebonised banding an incorporating a full taxidermy mount of a Cayman 37 x 178 x 76cm (14 x 69 x 30in) Provenance: purchased at Dreweatts Donnington Priory Salerooms, lot 400, 9th September 2009, where the provenance was stated as "reputedly purchased from a Paris apartment where it had been since the 1920's. It was by account created at that time but was preserved in the late 19th century"

Alessandro Mendini (Italian, born 1931) for Zanotta, Milan, a rare 'Zabro' metamorphic chair-table, 1984, the hinged circular top lifting to reveal a geometrically decorated chair with leather covered arms, signed to leg 136cm (53in) Other Notes: Alessandro Mendini played an important role in the development of Italian design and together with Ettore Sottsass, he was member of the group, Alchimea. He was also editor of the design magazine, Domus.
Eliel Saarinen (Finnish-American, 1873-1950), a suite of 'Blue' furniture by Adelta, Finland, originally designed in Cranbrook, 1929, produced in a limited edition by Adelta in 1983, comprising three-seat settee, a pair of chairs and a centre table, blue lacquered with painted decorations, the upholstery designed by Josef Hoffmann (4)
