In Fine Contemporary French Armorial Bindings Manuscripts: Recuel de tous les actes concernant les Ducs & des Grands d'Espagne. Depuis l'an 900 jusqu'en 1660, Vols. II & III only (ex. ?) Lg. 4to c. 327 and 391ff respectively. Bound  in contemporary mottled calf, triple gilt fillet borders, profusely gilt spine in panels, mor. labels, with armorials on each cover. As manuscripts, w.a.f. The arms embossed on each cover are those of Gabriel Bernard, comte de Rieux (1687-1745), a member of the Parlement de Paris and from 1727 president of the Chambre des Comptes. In this capacity he presumably needed works such as these, reproducing the decrees associated with the peerage of France. In his fine pastel portrait by Maurice Quentin de la Tour, now in the Getty Center, Los Angeles, he is shown wearing his official robes, seated in his library; on the table beside him repose two volumes very similar in appearance to those now on offer.

Lg. thick folio Oxford (e Typographeo Academico) 1848. Frontis fac-simile, engd. vignette on title, strongly bound cont. hf. calf, raised bands. With the Den's bookplate. The Etymologicum Magnum, compiled in Constantinople c 1150, is the largest Byzantine lexicon, collating and expanding the works of many previous scholars.ÿ It was first printed at Venice in 1499.ÿ Gaisford?s work, the fruit of much careful scholarship, remains the most recent complete edition. ÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿ This copy has tipped in at back: table giving details of print run and costs, also a review and an obituary of Gaisford. Pasted at front: 1. 10 Dec. 1847.ÿ Note from B.P. Symons, Vice-Chancellor of Oxford, offering Gaisford on behalf of the delegates of the OUP an honorarium of œ1000. 2.
