An Ebony Veneered Striking Table Clock, signed John Green, St Martins Court, London, circa 1770, inverted bell top with carrying handle, side glass panels, bracket feet, pull repeat cord, 6-3/4-inch silvered dial with Roman and Arabic numeral chapter ring, date aperture and mock pendulum aperture, strike/not strike selection lever at 9, twin fusee movement with later anchor escapement, striking on a bell, movement backplate engraved throughout with scroll, floral and a central basket of flowers decoration, secured by movement brackets, 46cm high over handle see illustration 02.05.17, Case has been polished throughout, small cracks and chips in parts, signs of some replaced veneers and mouldings, both doors are very slightly bowed, back door glass with scratches and a later door latch, later feet, dial is clean, movement needs cleaning, later converted to an anchor escapement.
