AMBROSE HEAL FOR HEAL & SON: AN OAK CIRCULAR DINING TABLE, the broad top with moulded border on four splayed square section legs with 'X' shaped stretcher, 30" high x 49" dia. See illustration. This appears to a variant of the popular 'No. 9' dining table which was in production between 1908 and 1939. The standard version of the design which formed part of Heals ground breaking 'Simple Cottage Furniture' range appears to be identical with the exception of the attractive extended border on this example. See Heal, O. 'Sir Ambrose Heal and the Heal Cabinet Factory' p58 and p184. Provenance: Private collection. Purchased from Heals c 1920 by the vendors parents.
