Damon Hill 1994 Williams-Renault FW16 French GP-used wheel & tyre, the O.Z Racing titanium five-spoke front wheel fitted with a Goodyear Eagle F1 slick tyre, the wheel also bearing a Williams 94 logo and hologram, the tyre stamped 00-E0006 and marked `set 24` in yellow chalk, complete with a clear-glass top for use as a coffee table, diameter 64cm., 25in., height 30 cm., 12in., sold with a small framed colour photograph of such a wheel in situ, signed and dated `94 by Damon Hill, plus a CoA (3) This race at Magny Cours marked a turning point in Damon Hill`s career. Nigel Mansell had arrived to replace the late Ayrton Senna and it soon became apparent that he agreed with all Hill`s feedback on the FW16. Also he proved to be no faster, so Hill effectively took over as team leader and only lost the World Championship because of Michael Schumacher`s dubious tactics in the last race of the season.

A cased medal set from the Juegos Deportivos Bolivarianos (Bolivarian Games) held in Caracas in 1951, the impressive display by E Pagani of Milan. The Bolivarian Games are held in honour of Simon Bolivar and are open to athletes from Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Panama, Peru & Venezuela. They were first held in 1938 and this medal set is from the third Games in Caracas in 1951, where Peru topped the medals table. Provenance: The San Siro Museum, Milan.

Lot 1202

A bearer`s torch from the 8th Juegos Deportivos Centroamericanos Y Del Caribe (Central American & Caribbean Games) held in Caracas in 1959, engraved with details to the bowl; sold together with two plaquettes for the Games, in gilt & enamel and silver & enamel, each inscribed VIII JUEGOS DEPORTIVOS CENTROAMERICANOS Y DEL CARIB, 1958, CARACAS-VENEZUELA (3). The 8th Central American & Caribbean Games were due to be held in Caracas in December 1958, as inscribed on the torch. However, due to political unrest in Venezuela the Games were put back to January 1959. The flame cauldron had been an innovation at the previous Games held in Mexico City in 1954. Mexico topped the medals table in Caracas. Provenance: The San Siro Museum, Milan.
