Appleseed - watercolour. Just cutting into an apple one day, a seed fell out onto the table, and there was the link with the theme "Survival." I found myself looking longer than usual into the core, and this everyday fruit, that we so casually eat, called out to be painted. I love the rich red of the skin but it was the seed that compelled me - knowing that therein lies the next generation of the apple tree.
Maisie in Lockdown - Acrylic. In my painting, Maisie is in 'lockdown', but under a table in a dog-friendly pub on the green in Wells Next the Sea, in the autumn before the official 'lockdown'. Maisie's home is in Nottingham, near lovely woodland walks, so last year she was able to carry on with her outdoor life and exercise and see her friends, unlike so many of us!
