TURRECREMATA Johannes de (TORQUEMADA Juan de). Sum[m]e de ecclesia domini Johanis de Turrecremata. Lyon Jean Trechsel, 20 septembre 1496 ; in-8 (275 mm) de 261 ff. (sur 270 : 6 ff., a-h8, i6, k-z8, A-H8, I9 : manque le feuillet I10 et le cahier AA8), reliure de l’époque, veau brun estampé à froid sur ais de bois avec armes au centre et décor d’encadrement avec un motif répété de hérissons, dos absent. 2 000 / 3 000 Ouvrage de théologie dont l’influence s’exerça durant près de cinq siècles. Le dominicain Torquemada (1388-1468) fut l’une des grandes figures politique et religieuse de l’Espagne du XVe siècle. Il était l’oncle de l’Inquisiteur Thomas de Torquemada. Le texte, imprimé en caractères gothiques sur deux colonnes de 55 lignes, est orné de lettrines en rouge ou en bleu. La table est placée en début de volume. Marque de l’imprimeur gravée sur bois sur le dernier feuillet. Trous de vers. Notes marginales manuscrites sur plusieurs feuillets. Dos de la reliure absent. L’intéressante reliure de l’époque porte des armes non identifiées : « De… à la fasce de…, chargée de trois roses de…, accompagnée en pointe d’un croissant de… ». Ces armes ne figurent ni dans Olivier, ni dans le répertoire des bibliophiles lyonnais. Ex-libris imprimé From the library of George Dunn of Woolley Hall near Maidenhead. Bibliophile anglais, George Dunn (1865-1912) constitua une merveilleuse collection de livres précieux : incunables, reliures estampées, manuscrits médiévaux, etc. Après son décès, la bibliothèque fut dispersée chez Sotheby’s entre 1913 et 1917.
