A LATE 18TH CENTURY IBERIAN RUBY, DIAMOND AND PEARL BROOCH designed as an openwork bow closed-set with rubies and table-cut diamonds suspending a matching floral spray panel and decorated throughout with nine pearls, the largest at the centre cluster. See illustration Accompanied by a pearl report no. 12526 dated 27th March 2016 from the Gem & Pearl Laboratory London stating that two looke part-drilled 'pearls' with worked bases, as a sample from nine 'pearls' (two largest). 1) 8.1-8.6 x 5.7mm 3.41cts. 2) 6.9-10.6 x 5.3mm 3.09cts, and found to be natural saltwater pearls. Provenance: This brooch belonged to Dame Zara Holt (later Dame Zara Bate) the wife of Prime Minister Holt of Australia and was worn by her on a visit to Downing Street to meet the then Prime Minister Harold Wilson, as well as when the Holt's received HRH the Duke of Edinburgh to the Lodge, the official residence of the Prime Minister of Australia.
