Shadows and small indented marks where handles have been incorrectly added to the drawer fronts. One 5cm piece of moulding missing above the right drawer. Further knocks, marks and losses throughout. A piece of moulding below the central drawer has been knocked off during the view, however it is present in the drawer.

Top has small black marks, filled knot hole, flecks of polish need redoing. Base has minor veneers splits and scuffs.Screws on retention brackets are not all original.

Separation, wear and damage to the tube. Splits, wear, dirt and some areas of repair to ivory. Some tarnish, wear and discolouration to bronze. Splits, losses, damage and repair to amber mouthpiece. General wear throughout commensurate with age. Weight 17g in total including ivory collar. Chipped around the centre, broken and repaired in several places.

Knocks, marks splits and repairs to legs. Has been repolished to aid with colour matching repairs. A sweet little table which is well made using good quality timbers.Please view additional images
A Victorian rosewood chess table, with a square specimen marble playing surface, inset with various hardstone and marble squares, to include malachite, porphyry and Brèche Violette, supported by a wrythen twisted column and scrolling tripod base, 43.5cm wide43.5cm deep73cm high (2)Condition report: Cracks, scratches, some small chips and knocks to marble. Splits, knocks and repairs to top of rosewood base. Filled chips, knocks and repairs to column. Joints of supports loose and in need of attention. One particularly loose owing to a split running alongside it, which means that the whole table leans slightly at present, but doesn't appear to warrant a great deal of work to get it righted. Overall in need of a little professional attention, but of a useful small size and shows signs of relative quality.
