A Ten to Twelve Seater Oak Gateleg Dining Table, 2nd quarter 18th century, with two rounded drop leaves to form and oval above a single frieze drawer, on cabriole legs with pad feet, good colour, 160cm by 190cm extended by 76cm See illustration190cm extended. Width of table when leaves are down is only 57cm. Decent colour and patina and fairly uniform colour with the exception of one of the drop leaves where the end sections are slightly lighter in colour. The opposing drop leaf has three small splice repairs above the hinges. The table top has had restoration many years ago. The central section has an old split which has been partly filled and polished. Later butterfly joints to strengthen the leaves. Old decay around the gate-leg and structure of the table. Some old decay and repair around the cabriole legs and pad feet. The table is structurally sound. Provenance: from a deceased estate of farmhouse contents.
