A VICTORIAN MAHOGANY TRIPOD TABLE the figured top with leaf carved border, on fluted pillar and acanthus carved legs with claw and ball feet, 74cm h, 87cm diam, c1900 ++One or two minor old scratches and marks on the top, a good quality table with leather covered brass castors. On the underside of the top an old butterfly repair to a crack, well executed many years ago. A heavy table.

AN EARLY VICTORIAN ORMOLU MOUNTED WALNUT, STAINED PEARWOOD AND MARQUETRY BUREAU PLAT the top crossbanded in kingwood with strapwork, ribbons and festoons, the frieze with a mahogany lined drawer, on cabriole legs with pierced chutes and sabots, 75cm h; 62 x 110cm The taste for such French style tables in the early Victorian period was mainly promoted by the dealer and manufacturer Edward Holmes Boldock. The particular style of marquetry of the present table is associated with the London cabinet inlayer and manufacturer of `buhl` Robert Blake (d1881). His Stephen St manufactuory was established in the late 1820s and the business was continued by Messrs George Blake & Brothers. A virtually identical table was sold anonymously, Christie`s, London, 14 November 2013 lot 67. ++In excellent original unrestored complete condition with only the odd tiny blemish. A Victorian walnut kidney shape two tier Side Table by Gillow, the top inset with a geometric parquetry design, within a brass surround and fitted with a single concave drawer, above a kidney shape and brass banded undertier on fluted turned and gilded supports. 3` 2" (96cms) wide.
