Pewter casket signed by celebrities of the mid 20th century Mid 20th Century table top casket having individual pewter panels, and green hard stone decorative detailing. The panels were sent to celebrities and notables of the time for their signatures which were subsequently engraved over and mounted. Included are some original letters and lists, with names such as Malcolm Campbell, Bing Crosby,Walt Disney, Sybil Thorndike, Augustus John, J. B. Priestley, Henry Cotton, Neville Chamberlain, J.B. Hobbs, Don Bradman, Cab Calloway, The Mills Brothers, G Marconi, Sylvia Pankhurst, A.A. Milne and others. Occasional table by Max Cooper Occasional table by Max Cooper of Yarnfield, signed to the underside in parquetry inlay. The top is designed with symmetrical art nouveau style parquetry made out of Indian rosewood, walnut, satinwood and other hardwoods. Below is a single pedestal composed of four separate pieces of bent wood that splay out at the bottom to become the legs. 39cm wide, 39cm deep, 50cm high Good overall condition with signs of use and wear commensurate with age. Some cracking to the parquetry decoration on the top likely caused by central heating and some surface scratches. One small dent to the top. No missing pieces of parquetry. Hallmarks a bit rubbed but readable. Some surface scratches and minor dents as to be expected. Tops of the sticks under the wax pans rather bruised and the rims are a little out of shape. Bruise and dent to the bottom rim of one to the left of the hallmark. Sconces with heavy wax residue preventing the wax pans from sitting properly. One stick with a wobble when on a flat surface, the other three sit well.
